aww shes still got a fair bit of growing then.
lotabob Posted - 27/11/2011 : 01:49:33
She is about the size of a 50p Nova, still a young one.

OK the difference in colour a few days can make to a freshly moulted Tarantula.

aww cute tarantula :) how big is she?

Trixie is handleable but you just have to be very careful when they are little like that, they are actually really delicate. Betty is a bit too fast and mean at the moment but I do hope to handle her when she gets a bit bigger though.

Give it a week and I'll see if Trix is agreeable to been handled and I'll pop up some pictures.

That sounds like somethin from a horror film. Im not gonna youtube it hahaha. She is very lovely though are your spiders handle-able? Or is it best for them just to be left?

Mamma, yeah I was checking on her and she was laying flat on her back legs in the air. They wriggle until the carapace (bit where the eyes are) pops and then they slowly kick the old exo off, she looked almost white when she first came out but very quickly went darker.

Not sure what they look like but i know they grow the new exoskeleton inside the old on. Then roll onto their backs, split the old one in half flip over and crawl out the new one, then the new exoskeleton toughens up. Something like that anyway... i think.
Mamma Posted - 23/11/2011 : 15:23:46
so how do they moult? What does it look like when they are doing it?
lotabob Posted - 23/11/2011 : 13:12:51
She is still waiting for her new exo to harden up, she still looks a bit see through. Once she is back to normal I'll lift her out for a picture or 2.
