..if you don't like bugs, you might want to look away lol.
Went to a different pet shop yesterday and came home with this unplanned addition to the family.....meet Max the millipede.
My daughter named him Millie originally but I've since found out he's male so he's had a name change.
He's my first millipede and I'm really impressed with him.

Love his little face lol:

Mort, glad to hear that your one is eating well. So many bugs are fascinating I think. We bought some Dubia Roach for the skinks to try, they don't seem that keen but we enjoying watching them and listening to them lol.

Oh,I see what you mean! If I start slobbering over him now,its you fault!!!
Sorry to hear you had bad luck with yours Red123,this little fella has been munching away ok since I got him thank God. Held a hissing c0ckroach a bit back, they are cool.

Goodluck with yours, we had 2 of them and they only lived for a couple of months. They just wouldn't eat anything! Really cool little creatures. We had a colony of hissing cockroach a few years back. Everyone else thought they were awful but they were really interesting to watch. Never was brave enough to hold one though. We had one roach called Michael and he grew to be 5" long. Now that a big bug!

They feel absolutely bizarre when walking on you though don't they.

Mine was called Ed Millipede

Ed Millipede, love it! It is a very bizarre feeling when they walk on you.
I love how their legs move in waves, find it strangely hypnotic.

@ lotabob - The one that bit you must have though you were a rotting vegetable! I too am the same, have always been fascinated by bugs and always will. Would love a mantis myself.

@ animalcrazy - Believe it or not I'm petrified of spiders!! Freaky blighters.

He is lovely but I couldn't have one myself, it's the movement of the legs, it's the reason I'm not keen on spiders unfortunately.

Very cute, I have nearly bought one of these a few times but I got bit by one and it was sore as hell. I'm debating getting some insects though at the moment. Tarantulas and scorpions and mantis' are very impressive. I've was the kid who picked up bugs and nothing has changed as i grew up.

That's brilliant, I hate wee creepy crawlies but that's too big to freak me out.

Congrats on the new addition
EmmaJayne Posted - 06/06/2011 : 13:36:17
I want one but i dont think my parents will be pleased hehe
kdlang Posted - 06/06/2011 : 12:33:03
OK so i thought he was strangely cute until the last pic and the thought of one crawling up my arm sent shivers down my back and made my skin crawl.

Mort13 Posted - 06/06/2011 : 11:05:57
He's in one of my snakes old fauns.
EmmaJayne Posted - 06/06/2011 : 10:57:01
What sort of enclosure do you keep him in?
EmmaJayne Posted - 06/06/2011 : 10:55:42
Awww i like him :)
Mort13 Posted - 06/06/2011 : 10:53:30
Nice to see I'm not the only one who thinks they are cute lol. Its a weird sensation having them walk over you I have to say.

@Mamma - The pet shop gave me a conservative 3-4 years lifespan as they aren't sure of his age. They live up to 7-8 years though!
@tordyjo - they eat veg and fruit and leaf litter. I knew nothing about them when I walked in the shop,he was a naughty impulse buy!
