Hey was on National Geographic channel and found this.

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/07/060724-snake-blanket.html

Snake must have been pretty hungry to continue eating the rabbit when the blanket was around it, not good.

This exact article came up in another topic - http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9180&SearchTerms=xray....and I think that Matty makes a good point about the clothes in the viv, although until I had read that thread and the article it hadnt even crossed my mind.

Heard this story about the burm, shame really.

Typical burms, they're like the labradors of the snake world tbh.. food orientated and dopey

You wouldnt use heatmats as the snake could break the mat thus electrocuting itself plus i dont think you can get them massivley big anyway.

It got wrapped around the rabbit it was eating so kinda did it by accident, you would think when it felt the blanket it would top eating though.

why would the snake wont to eat a blanket anyway?

You would never heat a snake that big with heat mats. You would use either bulbs or ceramic heat plates.

Surely there's a speciality that makes heat mats that can fold or that they join together. A heat blanket is not sensible and it would be hard to wash. I guess they could use many heat mats and seal them all together and then seal them all down to the floor. Or, get a load of bulbs or something.

Thats why I dont like the clothes in the viv method of calming a snake down.
hayleyb93 Posted - 30/04/2010 : 20:00:14
i was gonna say thats why you dont use a blanket, but heat mats cant be folded and stuff...so how would you get one big enough from the shop to your house. there must be something...surely a blanket isnt good.

Why do people use heat blankets for big snakes? Is there like no heat mat big enough?
