hi everybody im going to be buildng a viv shortly for my baby boa when he is bigger but unsure on sizes and best way to decor it and pics would be good as well as advivce |

as you can see my rep rad is ceiling mounted but you can mount them on the side of the viv too. the stat probe is suspended from wire from the guard (made by Reptiles-ink  ) and the stat is set to the thermometer probe which is just out of sight on this pic. the therm probe is on top of the hide which is directly underneath the rad. |

Just curious and I probably sound soft but dose it just hang from the celing of the viv as I'm looking into one of these myself but have never seen one in the flesh so to speak. I'm getting a boa after cristmas for my birthday yippy! I'm gona be putting mine in a 4 ft x 2ft x 4ft Viv which I am making myself once the beardies are moved to new vivs.  |

hats ok mate it was just for a rough idea think its going to be a stak when i start building both about 5x2x2 will put my breeding corns in 1 and the boa in another i wont be starting after xmas hopefully santa might bring me some goodies |

the reptile radiators come in a standard 75w, how high or low they're fitted depends on the maximum temperature you're wanting directly under it, for example if you wnat a basking spot of up to a max of 40*C then i think it should be fitted 30cm from the viv floor, for 30*C i think it's 45cms but definitely worth checking on EuroRep/Habistat's website
the AHS comes in a few different wattage options from i think 100w to 250w, as do the cassettes but it's definitely worth checking on the manufacturers website's for their recommendations  |

and with the heating i currently use a Reptile Radiator with a Habistat pulse and a guard Reptiles-ink made for me, for a big viv these are definitely better than a ceramic IMO
the AHS is a bit more expensive but DOES include a built-in stat but don't rely on the guard.....probably best buying one as the integral guard apparently does get very hot
and i looked into the cassettes......same principles apply

i agree with matty regarding the size, although a 4x2x2 is more readily available and so might be easier until it gets really big lol
they're not generally like corns.......you can put them in a relatively large viv without them stressing and stopping feeding, but they're generally dustbins when it comes to food anyway
they're quite often partially on display and are quite nosey and i love them! |

AHS systems are supposed to be very good for larger enclosures, they are basically a combined thermostat, large rectangular ceramic bulb and guard all in one.
I have also heard good things about cassettes which also have built in thermostats, although i am not all that sure about how to use them properly. They do look far better than ceramics, red bulbs and AHS systems though.

how big will he grow to? if you know that then we can suggest some sizes.. the shop i go to has a boa in a 4.5 x 2 x 1.5 faun/viv but i dont know if its fully grown yet.. |
