Posted - 10/08/2009 : 11:16:37 Hi all,
I'm in a stste of depression. My Mexican red knee scaled sheer glass, squeezed out of an air hole and escaped from her tank. She then met my cat Boris and was murdered during the night. Had to take the cat to the vet as he has a face full of hairs. so upset Pedra is gone. She just recently reached full maturity and was a gorgeous spider. I want a new one but not yet, still too soon. Anyone know of a good breeder of Mexican red knee's in North Lanarkshire? |

Posted - 15/08/2009 : 22:54:40 The good news is, Boris the cat is fine. The hairs have worked their way out and he is back to full health. Bluetonguedan is right. tarantulas are very fragile and the chances are the cat did major damage before she could bite. The red knee is venomous, but their bite is mild...like a beesting. vet reckons she never bit the cat, as he would have been a lot more poorly. Looking into a few spiderlings, so may have some new spiders soon. i'll keep ya'll posted. |

Sad to hear about your spider. Wouldn`t the spider have bitten the cat!
Tarantulas are a lot more fradgile than you'd imagine. I reckon one good swipe from a cat and the T would be fatally damaged. Probably didnt get a chance to bite.
Poor thing. |

Are you gonna be looking for another adult? If so your best bet would be to keep checking out the clasifieds sites. Most shops I would think will only have slings. Did the vets do anything to help your cat with the hairs in his face? |
