For some reason every time my honduran eats he digests it in his moss box. All my other snakes generally digest in their warm hides. He is fine its not causing any problems I was just wondering why he does this?

Ah I see. Well done for taking him on though. Credit where it's due. At least he will have a happy life instead of being in a horrid viv. |

I rescued him from his previous owner when he was a year old. His previous owner kept him in a very small tub with a piece of news paper and a jar lid for a water bowl. He said it was a vicious snake so he had to grab him behind the neck or by the end of his tail to move him about. I took him on and for several months we slowly tried to get him use to being handled. He would tolerate it to some extent although was very persistent with his biting and musking. This in its self did not bother me but he was very stressed when ever he glimpsed us, flying around the vivarium banging in to the sides. So I took a giant step back and stopped handling him. After some time he bagan to relax when he saw us. He now moves around his viv when we are about and will eat in front of us, even approaching me sometimes when I am spot cleaning. He is happy not being handled and I see no point in stressing him out just so I can handle him. We can get round things when it comes to a full clean or a weigh in. I wait until he goes in his moss hide then the entrance is blocked and he is weighed or moved like that. There is always a way round things lol. He seems happy and relaxed and I enjoy watching him |

He is difficult to take pics of as he is not handled at all. I do have some recent ones of when he decided to try and eat the feeding tongs as well as his mouse, lol. Will try and put them in picture section tonight |

Maybe that's what's making him secure in there then, the fact he's so snug. Different snakes I know, but my house snakes seem to prefer their moist hides to their normal ones too. |

I did wonder this myself but the moss box is a white ice cream container with moss in so not really dark and its up at the front of the viv while his other hides are towards the back of the viv. It must be a really tight fit for him in the moss tub as last night he made a rare appearance and I would say must be around the 5ft mark. Can't be much room in that tub along with mice in his tummy |
