Posted - 17/01/2014 : 15:22:13 Hi guys. Loki had been on rat pups for a while now. Am running low so thought would try him on 2 which he took absolutely fine. Do you think I should up it (got 2 left) if so what to when I got rat fluffs they were bigger than large mice (admittedly they came from p and h).

Posted - 18/01/2014 : 09:21:35 I've honestly never had a problem getting any of my snakes to switch to other prey. With the big guys I mix it up, they get rats, chicks and mice depending on what I fancy giving them. Even my hatchies that started out only eating chick now happily chomp on pinkies. Maybe better not to take the risk if you're unsure. |

Posted - 18/01/2014 : 07:46:51 In our local pet shop we can pick and choose through the sizes - but we recently had a problem going from rat weiners to smalls as they don't seem to have any larger weiners and the jump was too much so actually got our last batch somewhere else. This is only because we don't want to feed Prism multiple prey items due to problems with her feeding for her first year. I would say if you cannot find any in-between sizes then continue on double pinks for a bit.
Actually having looked back at the pics the pink does look fairly small, maybe you could look into getting larger pinks from somewhere as well? |

Posted - 17/01/2014 : 22:32:42 I thought about that but i was told not to feed mice as can be difficult to get back onto rats when they older? |

Posted - 17/01/2014 : 21:24:18 My boy is on mice or chicks (I vary it a bit). He manages large mice just fine, they barely touch the sides but yours looks a bit smaller than him. I can't suggest where to find the size rats you need, my local pet shop does pups and then what it says are wieners, which are massive o.O If he was my snake I'd wave a small mouse at him and see if he takes it, just to bulk him up until he can manage the rats (assuming the right size rats couldn't be found). |

Posted - 17/01/2014 : 17:06:48 Normally rat fuzzies wouldnt be bigger than large mice thats just PAH's twisted stupidly small mouse sizes for you TSM reptile do a size called rat Chubs which would likely be just what u need |
