Well my little guy has had a week in his new home to settle, and we haven't clapped eyes on him yet! He's never out, and spends the whole time in his gecko hide on the bottom of the tank. He ventures out after we've gone to bed, I know that because I've checked on him with a torch! My husband keeps making jokes like "when will you fill that empty tank with water and add the fish". I'm not sure what to do,leave him longer to settle, or start getting him out from tomorrow for a few minutes each night to get used to us? His hide is the type that comes in 2 parts, so you can take the lid off. I'd hate to go in to get him in case he then doesn't think it's a safe place to go.

Secretive little things I have found - but then so are my Rainbow Boas.
It took Ludo about 3 weeks to settle, but since feeding crickets I see him alot more and I now get attacked when going in to get his food and water dishes out - me thinks he likes his crickets

He jumped onto my daughter's face, that was funny, although she

I weighed him too, he's 35g, so is that a good weight for a year old?
He's had a name change too, Velcro just didn't fit for him, so he's
now called Phosphor

Haha, onto her face? Cheeky little guy

How did it go with the handling?
Hissyfit Posted - 06/09/2013 : 20:32:42
Thanks all. I got him out tonight, and rearranged his tank. His climbing area is a lot more secure now, and I've taken his hide out for the time being. I might get him a magnetic one, at least then I could still see him

Ive only had my little guy for a few days, he is 11 weeks old and every day when i come home from work he is suction cupped to the front glass doors aha. He has a wander then hides in his leaves!

It's rare to see them out and about as they come out at dusk/night and if they see you moving around they will more than likely freeze until you have gone :) they are not watching animals in afraid x

i think you need to just get him out, Fudge likes to watch me and the dogs when i am reading, and when the lights go off she goes jumping everywhere

My adult cresties don't tend to come out until late evening, I see the youngsters a lot earlier though. I think a week is long enough, he needs to get used to be handled at some point. I reckon ambushing him while he's in the hide would be less stressful than chasing him round the viv, he will get used to it.
