Oh my days! just spoke to the other half and to my surprise im allowed a crestie! GAHHHH! so happy!
I as recently as 10 minutes ago wrote a post as i was stuck in an inner conflict of crestie or fourth snake, And john really surprised me by saying i could get one :o I suppose three snakes is good enough ;D The fourth will just have to wait :P

Now even though i am doing my research, even bought a book on cresties today ^^, i want you all to throw your all knowingness at me Crestie owners! All opinions etc welcome ^^

I had posted these pics before when someone asked to see, it was winter, my room is really cold through the day, if she is out and about she goes to the side one to get warm. Just now it is warm enough and none of them are on.

Pics were taken before i sprayed, thats why hygrometer says humidity is low
Moppet Posted - 21/08/2013 : 19:08:30
SBB - do you think you could maybe put up a photo of Fudge's 'house' please? I'd love to see it

Hayley - the magnetic hide you bought, was it the Exoterra reptile den? I've been looking at that for when I get my crested. Sounds like you've got it all planned out
scottishbluebird Posted - 21/08/2013 : 16:21:24
Sadly i tried many times and failed badly to make the ledge, so was really happy with buying, as far as i have found level up reptiles was the cheapest to buy.

I know very little about cresties, so rather than give advice, I'll just say congrats! Can't wait to see pics :)

There are some good youtube postings on step by step guides to making your own magnetic ledges, you can also cut a length of the foam insulation for pipes to fit across the viv to add platforms and even cut out slots for milk tops as feeding areas.
As for substrate most people use kitchen roll for babies, I will most likely be using a mix of eco earth, compost(organic) and charcoal as I will be hopefully having live plants in the viv.
This site is quite good for viv decorations: http://www.dartfrog.co.uk/ and aslo this place: http://shop.pollywog.co.uk/

arrg typical, forgot to say id recomend level up reptiles for a magnetic feeding ledge, she sells on ebay, but is cheaper from her website, comes with glass dishes, they hold the milk lids great, so no mess goes on ledge, unless crestie walks through food......lol

Oooooh, thanks SBB. I may have to look into them as they're cheaper than the American alternative I came across.

AHH,really looking forward to seeing these new beasties-I keep trying to get OH to see my viewpoint:
Cresties are just a kind of super snake with legs....and feet ....and a penchant for fruity stuff...yes?
Moppet Posted - 20/08/2013 : 22:47:45
Another one Seems to be the time for it at the moment. I'm hoping to pick on up at Doncaster too.
ScaryVonHayleystine Posted - 20/08/2013 : 22:36:05
Fair enough. thank you.
scottishbluebird Posted - 20/08/2013 : 22:29:11
I just use kitchen roll, so cant recommend other substrate, sorry
ScaryVonHayleystine Posted - 20/08/2013 : 22:22:15
i need to get some more hanging suction cup plants.

Whats the best substrate or as with most other things is kitchen roll best for babies?
ScaryVonHayleystine Posted - 20/08/2013 : 22:20:54
ive bought a magnetic mushroom ledge, magnetic food dish ledge and magnetic hide as well so far :) so i can make a multi level experience without taking up excessive floor space :)
