Posted - 11/01/2013 : 15:28:18 Hi guys, a little off topic here but I am about to inherit a Bairds rat snake. She is about five feet long so presume she is pretty much fully grown.
The girl who has her at present, and she has't had her long, says she feeds her on weaner rats. I know the concensus here is that corns should pretty much stick to mice as rats are considered too fatty but does anyone know from experience which is true for a Baird.
Sorry to ask this here but I'm getting conflicting answers from a Google search.

Posted - 11/01/2013 : 17:24:42 If she hasn't got a fat bum by now then carry on with the weaners and stick to the schedule she's on. As long as the temps are OK then she shouldn't put on the podge.
There isn't a great difference in the fat content between a weaner and an equivalent sized large mouse. I have a link to a content comparison page. I'll dig it out and post it up.
Looking forward to plenty photos of her. I (we) like Rat Snakes.
