hi
i am still very new to snakes (2 corns at the mo) and am trying to find a good larger snake ie boa/python can you give me some idea as to what would be good one to go for ?

How about a rainbow boa? It's a snake that is on my wishlist. They don't get unmanageably big and they're normally good eaters. Plus they're sooo shiny  |

Royal. Not all royals are shy and stop feeding. I have trouble keeping ours on the floor. He likes to hang from the plants and climb the glass doors and happily takes small rats even though he is only 6 months old. |

If the adult 6 - 9footers are too big, they very handily come in dwarf flavour too |

They are easy to look after. As for being placid they can be nippy as youngsters but generally calm down when they get older and bigger. Saying that my 2012 is as calm as you can get and has only nipped me once (didn't hurt) but my 2011 is a bit bitey but I think that may be as she was in a pet shop for a while and wasn't handled much and I haven't handled her too much either but she is definitely calmer than when I first got her. Each snake is different no matter what the species as I have a corn that will not calm down and strikes at me every time I go in to get her out, just gives her character  |

i see you both have jungle carpet pythons, fairly placid/easy to look after ?

If you want something that is going to hide away all day and go off its food then get a royal  , if you want the opposite to this then get a carpet python |

royals are popular as are quiet placid. Whislt they stay reseaonably short they get fat. Then you got the likes of carpet pythons ranging from Iranian Jay's to jungle to coastal. After them ya getting into the bigger stuff like boas |
