Posted - 27/05/2012 : 09:07:51 Morning all
well I went to bed last night and found this little beauty making itself very much at home on my bed, now I'm not scared of creepy crawlies and I certainly don't kill them apart from wasps that it but I wasn't overly keen on sharing my bed with it.
Can anyone tell me what it is please before I release it.
Well perhaps little was a bit of an exaggeration. |

Posted - 05/06/2012 : 08:51:23 We had these in the wilds of Devon last weekend. But then again, most of the insects down there were like flying and crawling tractors. Must be all the fresh air... |

I live rite next to some MOD land and we get loads of these every May,they make me cringe ewwwwwwwwwwww. I cant go out the back door at night for fear there gonna fly in and freak me out. My little boy was in a small swimming pool the other week and because the water was poring out a may bug climed outta his hole and my little boy decided to pick it up and stroke it and then put it in the swimming pool with him, eeeeek it was discusting. My brother used to pick them up and hit them with a tennis racket. |

Posted - 27/05/2012 : 13:46:00 Thanks for that, I just found it on the internet as well and apparently they're common in the midlands but I've never seen one before. I was quite looking forward to watching it fly of but while I was posting the piccys he made his escape.
Note to self do not leave all the windows and doors open and the lights on. |

Posted - 27/05/2012 : 10:38:17 I've used my powers of deduction and now consider this to be a Common ****chafer- Melolontha melolontha.
Mostly cause he looks just like this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42127696@N05/5673177682/ which I found on a very determined "what the hell is that beetle?" google search! |
