Well I have been and put a deposit down on a lovely femail JCP CB11 and will collect it next weekend (ordered RUB stuff online and not coming till this week). I have done quite a bit of reading up on then but any knowledge you could pass onto me would be appreciated :)
Will post pics next weekend when I get her home.

Drop more subtle cryptic hints. When they are overlooked, take it as unconditional approval.

Good on you, absolutely brilliant snakes. I've been dropping a few hints myself but keep getting told I am never satisfied, hopefully get there in the end

I better get in some training for myself. He already has a powerful constrict grip. When he wraps around my arms he decides when it is time to release. If he gets his coils around both arms it is better than a pair of hand-cuffs.

For all his strength and size he is still really gentle and loves a good chin scratch.

He has still got a bit of growing to do then, when he is back up to fighting weight and full size he will be some snake
Auld Baldy Posted - 27/05/2012 : 16:30:36
Yes Donnie, he's a Coastal and I've just stretched him out to his full 6 feet.
He is feeding well on large mice and starting to fill out now. I'll be moving him on to rats in the next week or two. He was unfed for 6 months when I took him on and looked like a punctured bicycle tube. Soon have him beefed up to fighting weight.

Auld how big is vambo now? Am I right in thinking he is a coastal?

Good luck, not enough carpets around.

Finally got the RUB sorted ready for the new addition tomorrow (except the Pringles tube cold hide, still eating them). Did everything but the climbing frame the other day thinking it will be a quick job to do the climbing frame..... how wrong was I, took me most of the night. Here are a couple of pics of it

from the few ive handled an from talking to a friend who keeps them they are just nippy when young but tend to grow out of it
Donnie Posted - 21/05/2012 : 19:11:56
Is it that they are viv defensive when younger which is why they are 'nippy' or just plain evil
Donnie Posted - 21/05/2012 : 18:59:36
I am fully prepared (i think) for the tagging, 1st time I went to see her she was striking at everything and nearly got my nose :o but she was a bit calmer this time and only struck out the once.
Auld Baldy Posted - 21/05/2012 : 14:51:16
I'm glad I have the Coastal in that case. From what I've been able to see so far, there are two racks of sizeable teeth on the roof of his mouth. The lower jaw is pretty well raked too.

Even if he is less evil, I'll stick with the respect method anyway.
a33272 Posted - 21/05/2012 : 14:10:41
Jungles are the evil one of the carpets. There teeth being bigger isn't the issue. Its the 2 rear pointing ones in roof of the mouth which do the damage, I've had some lovely deep marks left by them
Auld Baldy Posted - 21/05/2012 : 13:52:39
Make good friends with him while he is still small.

Vambo is a Coastal CP and as gentle as a kitten. Easy to handle even though I've only had him for 2 months. He was an SSPCA rehomer. Just treat with a little respect at feeding time, those teeth are a lot bigger than your average Corn Snake. Having said that,I can still pick him up from the feeding tub and let him go back into his viv.
