Posted - 16/05/2012 : 10:39:49 *Cringe* I don't like spiders!! I was expecting a nice little gecko or something! Thanks for the warning though, I almost missed it as I was going that fast! Although she is quite pretty compared to lots of spiders i've seen ;) |

Posted - 15/05/2012 : 22:35:45 The substrate here is orchid bark. What you cant see is a piece of bark that she uses as a burrow. To get it to clump, use a 50/50 mix of potting compost and orchid bark, or just use orchid bark with something it can use as a burrow.
As for care, it depends where the tarantula is from, so have a read up! |

Posted - 15/05/2012 : 22:29:07 what substrate is that? is most T care the same or does it differ? im getting a chilean rose and heard i should use substrate that clumps together so they can burrow |

Posted - 15/05/2012 : 21:37:40 I can thoroughly recommend getting a scorpion. Lovely things to watch.
And to give a bit of perspective to my spider, compare this pic to the one with my hand behind her...

Posted - 15/05/2012 : 21:09:22 Georgina - They are great to watch, but do spend a lot of time hidden. Of all the arachnids I've owned, the best one to watch was my Emperor scorpion.
chrisc - Total nutter. I get threat poses almost every time I go in her tank to do the water, feed, anything. If I tried to handle her, I'd get bitten. And I don't fancy that... |

Posted - 15/05/2012 : 11:44:47 She got called Angel when I got her. The bloke in the pet shop used a pair of 2 foot tongs to get her into a cricket tub because she was so feisty!
And yes, she has a hairy belly. |
