Thanks SBB, I didn't realise geckos don't have eyelids either (obviously lol!). Am now confused - do no lizards have eyelids? I thought that was one of the differences between lizards and snakes - that lizards do and snakes don't. I could have sworn my green anoles closed their eyes when I had them as a kid?

Leopard geckos defoo do! have eyelids! :D

Goyle sleeps on the bottom, under his log. His eyelashes flop over his eyes whenhe is really really asleep :)
darrkang3l Posted - 27/05/2012 : 19:49:46
SBB you can tell when they are asleep because there pupils are barely visible! :P like cotton threads! mine like sleeping upside down also! :L
scottishbluebird Posted - 27/05/2012 : 15:42:46
Fudge has only recently started sleeping upside down, but does it when awake too, sadly eyes stay the same, feel stupid talking to a sleeping gecko lol (not that he answers me back when he is awake!)

They can sink their eyes in a bit so the crest comes down a little bit, Harley looks like he is scowling when he sleeps, that and he is usually hanging upside down, stupid squishy face thinks he is a bat.

Cool pic though :)

No, they dont have eye lids, which is annoying as dont know if asleep or not!

They shed but start to finish is a few hours, they dont seem to show any signs until just before they pull the skin off and eat it, they go all baggy and then nom nom time.
Georgina Posted - 25/05/2012 : 19:12:51
Fair doos, that's an odd pic, every where I have read says the shed tail to nose, guess they do as they please lol x
darrkang3l Posted - 25/05/2012 : 18:06:10

scottishbluebird Posted - 25/05/2012 : 17:33:08

Georgina Posted - 25/05/2012 : 16:07:12
I don't think they shed their eyecaps as it were they keep them moist by licking them all the times,

Neither do snakes!
I am sure the skin is over their eyes too, just does not change colour

scottishbluebird Posted - 11/05/2012 : 01:42:30
It is a lot faster than a snake, and Fudge's eyes dont go blue, i have caught him shedding a few times, i find it facinating but gross as they eat it
Georgina Posted - 10/05/2012 : 21:47:15
