Hello, my name is Danny. I'm not sure if this in the right place but I have a question about my cornsnake as she's just done something strange.

Ruby is a 3 year old female and she's just spat water out like a water pistol. She's never done this before and I'm struggling to find any information regarding this.

She's eating ok and perfectly active so I don't know if she's getting sick or if it might have been defensive(not sure why, she was in vivarium looking through glass.

She's not showing any signs of infection in or around her mouth and her breathing's fine, (I'm guessing so because I can't hear it. Was told if you can hear it its not normal)

Would just like to know if its something that I need to keep an eye on, or if she just thought it would be amusing to spit at me.

Many thanks,

Danny

Thank you all for your advise, seems like I accidentally startled her whilst she was drinking. She's been fine since, fed fine last night and she certainlly seems herself. Will post some pics when I get back to the laptop.

Thank you all again,

Firstly Welcome to the forum BlindFerret! You will find that this is a great place with lots of experienced owners happy to give their advice and support, so if you havent found an answer yet this is the best place to ask. You also gets lots of fun and friendship as a bonus.

How long have you had your cornsnake? Have there been any changes to her viv recently? Had you just put the water in (could it have tasted like washing up liquid or something)? How many times has it happened? Did it happen close to a feed? It is probably worth getting her out and listening to her breathing, seeing if she is behaving normally when handled.

Unfortunately I dont have the knowledge to answer the why she might have done it....but I know that 'Those who Know' will come up with something that might explain it.

I do hope we can help.
