Vinny could be short for Vanessa as well as the male name. |

Posted - 04/09/2009 : 02:36:27 Hi trebor. Welcome to a great forum where you will find lots of experienced owners ready to give advice and support, as you have already seen. You also get frienship and fun. Cant wait to see pics of Vinny. Although I am still a newbie I would repeat what has already been said about give him/her at least a week with no handling, just putting your hand in to change water and straighten substrate. Dont know if there is any room but you could put in something small that has your smell on it so he gets used to it - people have used socks, t-shirts etc but I am not sure how much space you have. When you do handle him do it for a few minutes at a time and slowly build up. Move very slowly with no sudden movements to startle him. I even have a time limit for handling my adult corn, between half an hour and three quarters of an hour. It really is a case of slowly, slowly and you being very patient with him. Hope this has been of some help. xxx |

Posted - 03/09/2009 : 22:54:55 hey and welcome as Lee has said leave the lil guy for a wee to settle in and just change the water/clean the substrate each day and he/she will slowly get used to you look forwards to seeing pics when you finally can handle him! oh and yes hatchlings can be very fast and skittish..they soon settle down with regular handling |
