Hey there, I'm Quill, another first-time snake owner. I'm currently living in Portsmouth with Dany, a disabled rescue bearded dragon, and Vivec, a five month old Amel strip het hypo

He was a birthday present from a friend of mine that I go wild reptile spotting with regularly - Said friend now wants one of his own XD I've had him a little over three weeks and he has already managed to break out of his tank once, where he roamed free for about 12 hours before curling up in some laundry.

He was fairly happy to be found again (my room gets pretty cold outside of the reptile tanks) but now the plastic vents on his tank are duct taped in place. He's a very gentle little thing. He's not keen on getting picked up, but doesn't seem inclined to bite, and once he's being held he's happy enough.

The duct tape was a temporary solution for a week while I obtained a hot glue gun (and I had most of it on the outside of the vents, I had as little as possible on the inside). Everything that was secured with tape has now been glued up. No more tape around the snake :)

I'm glad you've joined us here as well as on Facebook . One point. You mention Vivec escaping and how you've stopped that happening using duct tape. Is the tape in his enclosure? If so then you need to rethink. Snakes and tape don't go well together.

I'm already considering reusing his tank for a little Sotha Sil or Almalexia when he outgrows it and gets upgraded.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone :)
