Hi everyone, I'm new to snakes and you guys have been like a bible to me when I have been setting up. I picked up my little guy on Saturday and he has been giving me lots of smiles while he has been exploring his new viv. My only two questions are when I picked him up he was starting to go into shed at what point of shedding shall I put a humidity box in to help him shed? Also I've been hanging out in the same room as he is in, I won't be stressing him out will I? |

Hello and welcome.
As said I would not use a moist hide and just see how it goes naturally. I have found that after a move the first shed may not be in one piece (not always but sometimes) so if it isn't then I would let the next shed happen naturally as well to see if he is going to need the moist hide or not. If you get two had ones in a row then I would use one. |

Oh there will be many many pictures once he has had his settling in stage :-) I'm just sitting in the room reading so he gets used to me being around and nothing bad happening to him. I set up some cover around the viv from an old wrapping paper tube (all cut down to size) so he can get from one side to the other without being seen. He has been poking his head out of his hides while he thinks I'm not looking to check me out I think. He seems happy and relaxed when he does wander out of his hides I also make sure I'm not in the room all the time so he has time to himself. |

HI and welcome, I would leave the little guy to settle in and shed before you start handling. During the shedding process they can become quite defensive and stressy. I have only had to use a moss box for one of mine but he no longer needs it, so I would say see how this first shed goes before going down the moist hide route. As Twisted has said they will clear after the blue stage this often causes confusion as it looks like the snake has shed but they actually haven't. Once the little one has shed we need to see pics, that's the rules around here ;-) |

Hi and welcome to the forum 
Its best to leave them a week to settle in without any contact apart from fresh water, Being in the same room shouldn't matter as long as he has plenty places to hide.
As for the humidity box, I've never needed one for the four times he has shed so far. I can say that usually my little one will start going darker for a few days prior to his eyes going blue and he will hide away more, after this he clears up and it can take up to 5 days before he actually sheds.
