I just wanted to say hi and thank you to everyone who has posted on this website - very useful!
I finally persuaded my son to get a corn snake for his 13th birthday (I wanted one really!) and so two weeks ago we got little Rocky who I believe is a Carolina (thats what the shop told me anyway - will try and get a photo).
Well the whole family has been completly mesmorised by him and he is totally fascinating. Even my girlfriend and her daughter are forgiving us for keeping mice in the freezer.
He seems to be doing OK - eating his Pinkies once a week (about to go to two I think) but only if they are left in with him overnight (on a piece of tissue!) so don't know when he will take them directly.
I think he is about to shed which is exciting - for the last 4 days, his eyes have been cloiudy and he has been pretty miserable but last night when I changed his water, his eyes were back to normal and he seemed very happy with life. Does this mean he will shed in a couple of days? His belly seemed much brighter last night from the dull colour at the weekend.
We are absolutly loving him and I am already fighting the desire to get more!!!
Thanks for everyones help again

Hi. Glad you and your family are happy with him!

He should shed soon, some take longer than others, but now that he is 'clear' it should happen in the next few days.

He will be even brighter after a shed!

Be warned, snakes are addictive! Before this site, i planned on getting one cornsnake - i now have 2 and a leopard gecko

Excellent - btw, I have no idea whether he is a he or she but we have settled on assuming 'he' is a boy!

Welcome along. And yes I would be xpecting a shed from this lad anytime in the next day or so. Happy days
