I've had little Midas for nearly 3 weeks now.

The first week, he hid a lot for the first few days and I never really saw him, after his first feed he also hid away for two days without even poking his head out. Two days after that he became active every night after 19.00 moving about near the glass and exploring the viv, prob looking for ways to escape as its the place where he can see the most light. He's also become more active after his last two feeds, he now moves about a little bit on the feeding night and the next night he's back to a normal

Happened to me with Diego, he was nice and settled and feeding well before I bought him, when I got him home he started his glass dancing and hasn't stopped since. It's been 3 months now XD

Hi all.

Just a quick question... Basil has become very active in his viv over the past few days. Is the normal? i have had him just over a week now do you think he has just settled in? he still really seems happy to be handled and loves to curl around my arm and be stroked so i dont think he's unhappy but just thought id check with ppl that know more than me :)

hopefully this is a pic of Basil.

Edited by Kellog to remove code

He's lovely Andy .

If you copy the IMG code somewhere on the right of your pic on Photobucket, paste it, remove the [URL] at the beginning and end and the repeated code , you SHOULD be able to show it on here. If you get confused by all the code, etc, just leave it in and one of us Mods will tidy it up for you. Good luck .

Don't worry too much about him retaining heat, unless your house is freezing of course ! As long as he's active, or curled up on you, or in a pocket, or something like that, he'll be fine .

Sorry you're having issues with loading pics....you aren't the only one . If you have Facebook I THINK you just have to copy the image code of the pic and paste it....but I'm not sure . I do hope you work it out soon, can't wait to see him.

He seem more than happy out of his viv and he isnt a baby snake he's about 3ft long so in guessing he will be able to retain heat better than a smaller snake??? but yeh all is good so far. still cant upload a pic of him yet but he is a very pretty orange and brown colour ( very pretty ).

I'm glad you're already asking questions Andy and that you and Basil are already bonding well. As for how often he can come out of the viv....as Carmil said, not for 48hrs after a feed, which I'm sure you know, but other than that its really up to you and him. If he's showing signs of being stressed then put him back but if he's happy being out then that's great .
