Posted - 25/02/2013 : 18:52:06 Hi all, me again. I bought a monfield terrarium cornsnake starter pack and my snake a while ago and things have been going fine but it will soon be time to move him to a big boy tank. The monkfield is designed really well with a glass bottom and a little slot to put the heat mat in. It has no lights but doesn't need them as it is small. Ive been looking online at vivs and I'm so confused! I want to get a medium sized vivexotic with cabinet and it says it has two groves at the top to allow for wires. I want a white light in there for appearance but don't know what to get or how to guard it. Also I'm confused about heating. I don't want wires everywhere and don't know how you'd fit a heat mat in a wooden viv (none of them are designed like the monkfield) so I'm concidering a heat lamp. Will this be ok? What lamp should I get and wouldn't a metal guard burn my snake? Please help me I'm desperate! I've seen lots of different lights / heat lamps online but I don't know what I need or how they are fitted. Please could someone walk me thru this like you would a child as I have no idea about electrics etc!!! Thanks. |

Posted - 26/02/2013 : 11:35:34 aslong as the mat is on a thermostat then its fine for snake to lay on. there also fine if they get abit wet or poo'd on. there laminated to allow for this. as for lighting as said alot of people use the ikea ones. but there are ones avaiable on ebay amazon etc. even high street hardware places sell stuff. |

Posted - 25/02/2013 : 19:05:46 Can still use a mat in a viv. Easiest way to run wires In is to drill holes at bottom for the mat an probe wire to run through. As for lighting just get some led strips that way u don't need any guards in there. |
