Posted - 27/11/2012 : 21:01:13 Hi guys, have been chatting to a few of you on the general posts, got my new baby this evening, she is beautiful and really friendly, just wondered is there any hard and fast rule that I HAVE to leave her alone for a week to let her settle or can I handle her if she is willing, she has had a couple of cuddles with me so far, once when I put her in the terranium and once when I went to check temp a few mins ago, she doesn't shy away at all and is happy to come onto my hands and explore. She is due a feed tomorrow but I'm going to leave her till probably Sunday to make sure all her temps are right and she has settled properly so. She doesn't refuse or regurge, Is all this okay? Thanks, Holly
Oh and her name is Peaches |

Posted - 28/11/2012 : 01:08:23 She was fed last weds, I will heat up the room tonight till I get my stat then. Thanks x |

Posted - 28/11/2012 : 00:37:48 I would turn the mat off straight away. A mat that size could get well in excess of 50 degrees. Please please use a stat x |

Posted - 28/11/2012 : 00:28:08 If you don't have your stat yet I would not plug in and use the heat mat. Just make sure she is in a warm room. Has she fed in the last 48 hours? |

Posted - 28/11/2012 : 00:23:50 Yes they told me at the shop she was 7 months but I think she is a baby baby as to me seems tiny but I don't have any snake experience, yes got my habistat mat stat on its way, she is having 2 pinkies every week.
How old do you think she is, I will weigh her before I feed her, might be Sunday or next week sometime, she is due to feed tomorrow but want to let her settle first. |

Posted - 27/11/2012 : 21:35:19 Shes a pretty lil thing ideally she really ought to have a week with no feeding or handling to settle in properly i know its hard and your likely to buckle lol but you should definately try. looking forward to seeing more pics after shes settled in |

Posted - 27/11/2012 : 21:34:50 Thank you, she really is a beauty I'm in love with her already. Okay I'll leave her be till next week but just check her aspen and change her water, she is quite happy to come over to me which I was so chuffed with. Really thought she would be much more shy but the lady in the shop said she was their friendliest snake. |

Posted - 27/11/2012 : 21:20:22 Oh, bless her. She's gorgeous!! Personally I'd try to stick to the week rule. However, you will need to check for poops, make sure her substrate is clean and tidy and change her water each day. Now, if she wants to slither over your hands and inbetween your fingers then I wouldn't stop her. BUT, you really must stick to the non handle for 48 hours rule after feeding!! She will be fine to be left until Sunday for her feed. I'm so happy for you......it's a lovely feeling isn't it?!! |
