Posted - 30/08/2012 : 22:25:51 Hi all. I've been lurking away in the background of this site for a while now and I thought it was high time i say "Hi!" This site is truly awesome and has cleared up more than a few queries I have had. Anyway a wee bit about me, I haven't purchased my first corn YET but plan to very soon I already have 2 Border Collies, 2 Dumbo Rats and a Leopard Gecko. I have been doing my research into owning one of these fabulous creatures and I am fairly confident once I buy my first one I'll know what to do...hopefully. A few wee questions I have now though: 1) Does anyone know of a good seller/breeder around the Glasgow area? There is a wee pet store in the Forge that carries a number of Corns but I don't know if the guy is reputable? Also Pets at Home sell Corns now too, has anyone purchased one from there? 2) Ordering snakes online? Major no-no or ok? I was just perusing the ones on exotic-pets.co.uk and they seem fairly reasonable. 3) How young should I be aiming to buy? Is a slightly older snake better/easier to handle etc? Thank you in advance for your advice. As soon as I get my new addition I'll be posting pics for you guys to see. Cheers Ry |

Posted - 31/08/2012 : 11:07:54 Hi and welcome. I started with one hatchling that has now been joined by two more, in eighteen months. Its great watching them grow and shed and change colour. If you can find a local breeder to purchase from as you will save compared to shop prices, and breeders are keepers to so can offer better advice than some larger pet stores and some less reputable reptile shops. All the best with your new addition when he / she arrives. |

My wee rats are so funny, they constantly play which then turns into fighting and they stand on their wee back legs and box each other it's super cute. I'll try get pics/vids of it. I'll hopefully get a wee gab with Gmac soon then and he can maybe point me in the right direction. Thanks Lozzy that's what I thought but wasn't 100% sure. I'll be sure to have my lil gal or gurl out regularly to ensure maximum tamingness lol. |

Posted - 30/08/2012 : 23:54:30 Hi and welcome
First off different morphs have no affect on temperament and from my personal experiences (as i am still learning alot myself) gender hasn't really affected personality or temperament , its more a case of 'taming' them with regular handling and him/her getting used to handling and your scent |
