Posted - 08/08/2012 : 12:38:49 Hi everyone, I purchased an amel 1 year old female a week ago so thought that after visiting this site hundreds of times to look things up it was about time I joined and introduced her We've called her Rosalie, and she is such a friendly little character Unfortunately for the past year she was kept in a small fish tank on cedar wood shavings and with a heat mat that had no thermostat so she has heat burns the length of her body, such a shame but she still looks beautiful, we are spoiling her now and nursing her back to full health Looking forward to joining in the discussions, Becky x |

Posted - 12/08/2012 : 09:21:14 I hope so, we just can't believe how friendly she is as I doubt she was handled much, and I think she's lucky she didn't get seriously ill living like that for a year. It's strange because I had my heart set on a normal hatchling but each time I looked at her advert I felt kind of drawn to it, must have been fate : ) |

Posted - 10/08/2012 : 18:48:22 I saw the ad on our local gumtree, and it had been on a while, the previous owner said they had lost interest so we went along to have a look. She was in a small fish tank with condensation dripping down the sides and said they were unable to take her out for us as she was due to shed It would have plagued the life out me if we had left her there so we brought her home and when we had a proper look we found the cedar shavings were soaking wet it was so humid in there and as there was no thermostat she had big white blotches all along her where it had got too hot Since she came home she had a shed and has eaten well but I don't know if the scarring on her scales with fade with sheds or will always be there, either way we are totally smitten and she is being spoilt rotten |

Posted - 09/08/2012 : 22:40:51 thankyou! she enjoyed her feed this evening and loves her new setup, she's never stopped exploring since I put her in, its great having support on here as she is my first snake and I must admit I felt a bit thrown in the deep end the state she was in but I feel more in the swing of things now lol |
