First off I want to say thanks.

I've been lurking here reading for almost a year and have found the knowledge and wisdom present in this community to be invaluable.

I got my first snake in September of last year. He's a CB'11 'volcano' corn I call Kitty (long story)

I picked up a second snake around Christmas '11. He is a CB'11 normal Russian Rat snake I call Monster (or Hot lips Jordan lol)

Ill post pics later when I get home.

I've kept warm blooded critters all my life (Cats, Rats, Hamsters) and have long thought about keeping a snake. Between this community and Snakebytes.tv I finally found the confidence to take the plunge and invest, once I had the first (and found out how easy they are to keep) I got the second and am now contemplating #3 (caramel/tessera) and #4 (hoggie!!) as the boys out grow their current dwellings.. (addictive is right!)

*Volcano is essentially Bloodred but not... The first was caught wild near Ottawa, Canada a few years ago.

pics up..

Since Hognose snake are native to this part of the world they can actually be a bit tough to find.. (native fauna protection laws) and expensive... I'm hoping for a good deal on a spirited little fellow at the CRBE in September.

I knew nothing about what 'Volcano' corns were when I got Kitty, truth be told I wish he kept his contrasting colours but he is really the gentlest critter, has never bitten me, doesn't get defensive. He's rattled his tail at me 2x times in a year, once when he first got home before he settled and once recently when I dug him up from under his aspen (I think I woke him).

He's so mello I still feed him in a deli cup, otherwise he runs away from the fuzzys! (I feed both F/T)

Monster is quite different. He has a much more aggressive feeding response and will snap at me if I wiggle my fingers (never actually bit me yet) and will come right out of his tank to grab dinner. He hangs out in the open and will climb up my arm if I offer it to him so he can come out and play. He also raises the most dreadful stink! Even if I've left the cat box a little over long he has no problems overpowering it with his own output.

I think my Mom had it bang on when she said 'Powerful enough to knock a buzzard off a manure wagon at a hundred paces!'
