First time Corn owner and saying "Hello" from both me and Freddy.
This is Freddy;

I'm pretty sure he's nice and healthy, just getting used to his new home

Late reply but the sock trick did indeed seem to do something. And he's much calmer now, although I can't believe how fast he is now growing. He's just off 2ft and only 10 and a bit months!!

My Carolina whos 9 months old didnt like being handled at all for a while. Was striking, although not biting, tail rattling, everything! My son has handled him every day possible, except after feeding, for over a week now, and he is so much calmer. Just time and patience I think!

They know their own mind and sometimes they just don't wanna play!
He needs some time to get used to his new home and to you. Just remember you are huge and scary and he is in a strange place! After the initial seetling in period I went for the little and often approach with regard to handling and very quickly the little un got used to us and and now comes out when he hears us in the room.

Thanks. My exam went well although I have 5 more to go but I'm back home now ready to handle Freddy tomorrow, so I'll let you know if the sock trick worked :D

Hello and welcome

Sounds like a good idea - may be good to pop a sock in with him that you've carried around in your pocket for a day - that way he can get used to your scent even though you're away!! Good luck with your exams :)

He is still in the process of being left for a week so I have left touching to a bare minimum but like what was said earlier his confidence and acceptance will grow hopefully.... but he'll get a few days left alone now as i'm going back to uni for a few days so all should be quiet for him

it depends. did you leave for a week?

The guy at the shop sold him as a Carolina but he said that Freddy most definitely has some other bits in him if I wanted to look into it.
