I Purchased my first baby Corn snake a couple of months ago, his\her name is cocoa (haven't had it sexed yet). The problem is I wish i knew its true age. I currently have him inside a plastic vivarium which is inside his full size vivarium. At what age\size would it be acceptable to release him purely into his full sized vivarium.

As said in another post, I am putting Chops into a two foot viv very soon. He's almost two foot now and weighs 36 grams. I think as long as you pack the viv with lots of goodies for them to play in (tubes, trees, hides) then I don't think that there will be too much of a problem :-)

Thanks for all replies, I think cocoa has a bit of growing to do yet as he's only about 18inches long. My large viv is a 3ft vivexotic.

Hi and welcome :)

Just to expand on Lozzy's post the width plus depth of the viv should be no less than the snake, you don't have to wait until your snake is 4ft before you can put it in a 3ft viv

Releasing him into the big one is up to you, once he reaches length plus width of the small viv and starts to look a bit squashed I'd move him up, provided he's not so skinny he could escape through the gap in the glass doors!

Hi there and welcome,

congrats on your first corn, generaly the rule of thumb in the snake should equal the width+depth of the viv :)
