Hi everyone. Joined as i have acquired a 3 year old albino corn snake from my boss's son who didn't want him anymore. I always wanted a pet snake and am over the moon I have got him. He didn't have a name so I called him Basil after the snake in Clockwork Orange film. He bit me a couple of times when i first got him but now we are the best of friends. He loves coiling himself round my head and snuggling into my ear lol.

I'll put some pics on soon when i can download them but just thought I'd share this with you all cos no-one (but my mum) appreciates just how lovely he is. The usual reaction is ' urgh' and looks of disgust. Some family members have gone so far as telling me they won't come and visit me whilst the snake is in my house! quite sad really.

Anyway. hope to hear from like minded people who are happy to swap stories

All the best snake lovers

Georgina xx

If you did get this from the Facebook page the owner described him as an ultramel anery. Although I'm sure someone will confirm or help out who knows a bit more about the morphs!

Hi hon,
I've just got my first snake too, much to the horror of pretty much all friends and family. My mum was in tears and got really angry, several friends said they would never set foot in my house again. Odd huh? Anyhow, i hope you have fun with him and that your friends and mine come round to the idea that corns are not monsters!

Hi and welcome. I have 2 cats. One of which I keep well away from the snakes as she is the devil. She is not allowed in the same room as them when they are out. The other cat actually likes the snakes and doesnt even bother with them. Hes allowed int he same room as them when out as he just isnt interested in them. Obviously we still keep a good eye on him when we have snake handling time and he is still in the room.

And yes. I use a water bottle to skoosh the cats if they need it. Doesnt do them any harm and they are quick to learn to steer clear or they get a skoosh

I think the general rule is to keep cats and snakes separate as it's too risky. Not totally sure though as I have a dog who pays no interest whatsoever! Welcome to the forum, and look forward to pics :D MOST people I know think I'm weird having snakes :( A couple of people have been really interested though and held them etc :)

Hi there

i have 2 cats, mine don't get along with the snakes very well, they constantly watching the tanks and one even once tried to paw at the snakes, now when its snakey time the cats get shut out, i've heard others use a water bottle to squirt the cat with water if it gets too close, i'd be cautious with the cat and snake when out together
