OK, I found my corny last May after someone dumped him/her in the grass in the park - luckily I was there to rescue him/her!!
You may have gathered what my question is - how can I tell if it's a he or a she??
Never had a snake before and to be honest, never thought about having one, but now I have one and couldn't be happier but I would like to know just out of curiosity I guess.

Slips is 5 foot 2 inches long, so I guess he/she is quite old.

Slips has gone off food this week but is very active and from reading other posts, he/she has other things on the mind!

Thanks for reading and hopefully someone can tell me how to ahem sex it!!

Lol, certainly sounds like Slips is a he!! This forum is fab, I researched before getting Corno which is lucky, as the pet shop I got her from gave me terrible advice regarding setup, doubt she'd be here now if I'd listened to them Luckily I already knew what they were telling me was wrong so after my initial query was pooh-poohed I just smiled sweetly and then ignored them!

There is something about the tails, I think the males have more slender 'hips' just before the vent, but as Georgina says, only way to be certain is probing.

Thanks SmartBunny, didn't even know this site existed - was looking for advice on why Slips was off his food - and found out through these forums that 'he's' got breeding on his mind!!

Thought he was ready to pop his clogs and was quite concerned!!

Now I'm over the moon to discover that he is just doing what most snakes do at this time of year!!

That's what got me wondering whether he was male or female! It wouldn't do him any harm not to eat for a bit - he's huge lol!!

Hi and welcome to the forum. Good on you for rescuing Slips :)

Thanks Georgina for answering

I did read somewhere that a males tail is longer from poo hole to tip than a females - or was it the other way round?!!

I guess I'll ask my local pet shop - might wait a bit though - don't suppose Slips will like being probed right now as he/she's feeling frisky lol!!

the only way of sexing an adult corn is to prob it, which has to be done by someone that knows what they are doing. some rep stores do this. or a specialist vet will, but will charge a fee.

xx
