Hi i'm new, i have just got my first anerythristic corn snake (an early christmas present)the breeder thinks he is a boy, but i am taking him back in 6 months to be sure. I hope to upload some picture soon, he is beautiful.

I was just wondering about the heat mat though, it says in the instructions that it must be kept underneath the terrarium, but the side the heat mad is at is sill quite cool, does anyone know what i could do ?

sorry, i haven't been on for a while. yeah i have a thermostat, it just took a little while for me to get everything set up, but it's all working properly now, i guess it just took a little while for the heat mat to warm up (

Hi there

As above, do you have a thermostat for the mat? ~You really need one if not - the shop I got my corn from sold a starter kit including just the mat, and I had to ask for a stat

Hi there. Quick question but an essential one.

Do you have a thermostat to go with that mat?

Welcome aboard.

Is the terranium, Plasic, wood or glass?

Plastic - Should put it under neath with a small air gap to all air in. Stat and Temp probe inside.
Glass - Inside the terranium on the base. Stat and temp probe on top.
Wooden - Inside the terranium on the base. Stat and temp probe on top.

They say to put it on the side on the instructiosn but thats usually the instructions for leopard geckos. As long as its stat'd and monitored the heat mat should be on the floor so the snake can curl up on top of it when it needs to.

EDIT: It will feel cool to us as the heat mat will be giving off a heat similar to our body temperatures. As long as you have a thermostat for it and are using a digital thermometer to measure the temp you should be fine.
