Well, hey, i'm Daniel, a 13 year old Carnivorous plant geek, who wants a corn snake!!!

I'm currently on a contract with my mum, after alot of pursuasion, she's agreed that if i tidy my pit of a room, and keep it clean till new year, i can get the reptile of my choice! (Excluding Anacondas, Pythons, alligators, crocodiles, gila monsters, monitor lizards, and komodo dragons) But a corn snake is my first choice, and will look good next to jezebel, my taratula... (That'll freak alot of you out )

Anyway, on my care info searches, i found this site, and it's a godsend.
After a few hours reading, i feel capable of this commitment, and am eagerly awaiting new year!

Regards,
Dan

Hello and welcome, I think it would look good next to a tarantula!
It's a shame you can't get an axolotl their awesome!

Good choice of snake! what morph are you getting? I would recommend anery because of the beautiful pattern.

Cool!
I've seen a place doing kits, for £100 you get everything you need, (tho' i'd buy another hide and some vines) For a corn snake, including the corn snake hatchie.

If i wan't meant to post the link, please don't hold it against me!!!

Hi and welcome. A corns a great choice. If you're getting a hatchie I highly recommend these tubs:

You can get them in various sizes from places such as Asda and Wilko's. Loads cheaper than fauns and more secure,as long as the airholes you make aren't massive obviously.

Thanks!
Tho' my mum saw that and said, in Obi wan's force voice "You will keep it tidy" And then, "I can still take it away" Hehehe

For fear of a great loss, i shall have to keep it tidy...
Also, sadly, i'm not allowed to have an Axolotl aswell as a snake

Check out http://iansvivarium.com/morphs/species/elaphe_guttata/ it will give you an idea of what is available out there.

I'm not really good for identifying morphs, so i'm just after what looks best to me.
Also, i'm going for a hatchling, so i can watch it grow to full size, and have it for as long a i can.

You can have a corn snake out for handling for as long as it is comfortable doing so. You get to know the signs when they've had enough, they get a bit flighty and start trying to get away to hide, though if it disappears down a sleeve it will happily curl up in there until you fish it out.

Small corns aren't best around your neck, they don't pose you any threat but its a long way to fall if you are stood up etc so they are better in your hands and under some control. Though when I'm sat watching TV I will let Spot, my cornsnake just wander about, he normally ends up in a sleeve or in a pocket or checking out nostrils.

Do you have a morph in mind? My favourites are Anery and Pewter but I also like wild types too. Also are you thinking a hatchling or something a bit older?
Daniel_G Posted - 12/11/2011 : 17:11:34
Thanks everyone!
I also had an only fools and horses inspired moment, and thought of Casandra, or Rodney too Hehehe.

I'm definetly going to keep it tidy, tho' once i have the snake i can turn it into a pit again...
Another thing, is it advisable to keep a snake out for large ammounts of time, and let it coil around your arm, or neck?

Noodles has my vote! haha! welcome!

Welcome along! I have a small faun about a foot by eight inches by six inches for my hatchie. If you go too big too quick they can get a bit stressed and prefer smaller spaces to explore. As for climbing i guess you'll find out if your snake wants to climb once it's in its new home. I'm impatient for you. Keep that room tidy!
