Hi guys, this isn't exactly the cheeriest first post ever, but my seven-month old snow corn escaped last night into my room, which is already in disarray due to packing. I'm only living in this house one more week, and I don't know what I'll do if I don't find her. She has escaped once before, but by some miracle was found within 15mins - unfortunately she's not in the same place this time.
Her water bowl and favourite hide have been placed under the radiator, which I have switched on, but there's no sense leaving food as she ate two pinkies on saturday. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated. She's my first ever snake, and I've quite literally been sick with worry.

I'll make a proper intro post once this panic is resolved.

No, there's been no sign of her yet, although I've managed to convince my landlord to let me stay another week (he doesn't know why, hehe). Today is her feeding day, so I've left out food and traps in the hopes she'll come sniffing around for a pinky.

Fingers crossed she turns up soon

but on the other hand, i've known people find their lost corns in their garden (and other random places) months or even a year after they went AWOL

the Japanese ratsnake i used to have had been on the run for a whole year, when he reappeared his owner didn't have room for him so he was up for sale..........

It looks like this story's not going to have a happy ending.
Behind my wardrobe, I found a series of holes in the skirting board which lead both into the wall between this house and the next, and to outside, of which I was not aware- as I've not seen her since she escaped, I'm going to have to assume this is where she has gone.
I'll be holding out a little longer, but will soon be heading down to the pet shop to see if any of her brothers and sisters need new homes - after thoroughly snake-proofing the vivarium.
Thanks for all your welcomes and support, it's a shame things had to end this badly for my first corn snake :(

hi there... fingers crossed you find your little one xx
Joker Posted - 31/05/2011 : 09:22:01
Well, it's been a night now, and no sign of her, or any signs of her movement in the flour. I'm getting scared now.

I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

Hi, welcome to the forum!

I can only imagine how desperate you must be at the moment, especially as your moving house so soon. But I doubt you'll get much support for tape traps. Getting stuck on tape can lead to severe injury, I remember reading (and seeing the photo) of an escaped young corn found dead stuck to one of those sticky insect traps.

I hope you find your snake soon.

Thankyou for the advice and the welcome. I'm going to really, really hope that she's in one of the hides or traps this morning.

What's the consensus on tape traps? I'm getting desperate, but don't want to hurt my lost little girl.

I am so sorry your snake is missing. Good luck finding her. I'm keeping everything crossed for you.
kdlang Posted - 30/05/2011 : 16:01:59
I wish you loads of luck in finding her, you must be frantic with moving soon. She may still eat if she fed recently, it's worth a go. Check everywhere. Think alot smaller than she is and especially check warm areas like radiators, pipes, electrical equipment etc. Hope she turns up

Thankyou Figs, I'm finding the hardest thing to do is just keep my cool.

I've torn my room apart, to no avail - I'm almost certain she's in here, it doesn't look like she could get out, but I've left a hide with water in the next room just in case. I'm in a basement room, and I don't think she'd 'get' stairs - would she?
In this room I have three hides with water bowls and flour, and a 'bottle trap' with a pinky, surrounded by shopping bags to make noise. I'm keeping the room shut. Any idea of the chances of her using any of these any time soon? I fed her two pinkies on saturday, but as opportunistic feeders, she should still be drawn to the pinky, correct?

Thankyou, again. I'm hoping she returns to me before I have to move out, I do love her.

Hello and welcome - sorry to hear about your snake! I lost one of mine not too long ago, and she was gone for three weeks

All you can really do is set traps, turn the place upside down and keep your fingers crossed!
Since she is so young you can probably get under doors and into different rooms, so look everywhere; under fridges, beds, couches, inside boxes and bags.... See if this thread is any help: http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12170

I hope you find her soon
