Hi Guys
Only just found this bit and had already posted on another thread so sorry and 'HI'

Are there any snake owners/breeders in the Oxford area on this site? I am in Kidlington and will hopefully be looking for a young corn snake in the next couple of weeks.
I would prefer to buy a snake from a breeder rather than a pet shop don't know why its just my preference.
Anyway glad to be part of this site, its great.

Woo Hoo!!!! My husband really wants another large tattoo (£300+) so I got him drunk on Friday evening and said if he wanted another tattoo then I wanted a snake and he said..........wait for it.............DEAL!
Can't believe he has agreed.
He now says he wasn't totally against it he just wasn't sure about it. Don't care really as now I can start looking for a corn snake properly.
Thanks for all your help and suggestions and thanks to a33272 for the heads up on a couple of reptile places I didn't know about.
I am going to take my time and not rush into anything and make sure I have someone near me who is willing to look after a snake if I go on holiday etc and not buy the first corn snake I see.

I got my dog by sulking for 2 weeks and have never heard the end of it. If anything goes wrong I get 'you wanted her, its your dog'! so I don't think I will be going down that route again. Hopefully my son will do the trick.

I think the only thing that is putting hubby off is how long they live for, as we will be well into our 60's in twenty years time and he seems to think that is a problem. I think it would be great to freak out all the old ladies in the street with a snake!! also who would look after it when we went away.

a33272, I am in Kidlington so not too far away. How many snakes do you have?

Hi
Welcome aboard.
Lets get a few things sorted.... my hubby was, and is, the same over me, my dogs, reptiles etc, etc. Just point out that he married you 'for better or worse' and his worse with animals is your better! Also remind him that he shouldn't question your choice......look who you married!!!!!!!

Forget faringdon to start. Yarntons good but u news to make sure u speak to the righ people there. There's a shop in headington called evolution reptiles. U got a rep shop called emerald exotics in Witney. Depends when u plan to get one there's alot if breeding going on now so in a few months u should see all this years first hatchlings coming out an we have a few breeders on here

Only a reptile/pet shop in Faringdon, they had a baby one and a fully grown one. They also had some youngish ones at yarnton nurseries but the staff were crap!

When u go away u have a few options it's only really the water that needs to be changed an the temps checked, which although people may not want to handl a snake may still do. Or u can't put it in boarding which is usually about £1.50 aday theres a place in witney that does it or 3rd find a snake/reptile keep near u that will house it for a while.

I got 2 a corn and a carpet python. What shops u looked in so far??

I will not mention anything about witholding 'wifely' duties. Also can't comment if it works or not, but there may be people on here who have tried it.
