Posted - 21/04/2011 : 02:31:35 Hiya :) Ive not got my snake as of yet but planning getting one in august , Only thing im scared of is.. I have 2 cats.. if they ever came into a runin with the snake what would the snakes reaction be? Would it constrict on the cat? Sorry if this is a stupid question but it seems to be the only one that keeps coming up in my mind. |

unsupervised and loose there'd prolly be a bit of a tit for tat fight, the corn might strike in defense as the cat played with it's new 'piece of wiggly string' but the snake wouldn't constrict like it would with a mouse/food. when i'm handling my snakes i just make sure the cats aren't in the room.......mainly cos some of the big boas would eat a cat!! |

believe it or not my cats are not phased by orange peel! But every cat is different so it's def worth a try. xxx |

Posted - 21/04/2011 : 10:26:43 I have a cat and the usual reation from the snakes is to back away from her if she comes too close. To be honest tho I think she is more scared of them. As long as you are fully aware of where the cats are when you have the snake out then I can't see it being a problem. I would be more worried about the cats hurting the snake than the other way round. Now I tend to have things around the fauns which makes it difficult for my cat to get near them anyway. |

Posted - 21/04/2011 : 08:31:42 Hiya I have 2 cats and they are often up at the snake's viv. One of them isnt too bothered about them but the other is insistant. We used to have Romeo in a starter faun but that was plastic so not very sturdy for him when she was trying to get into him. So we changed him to a glass viv. As for constricting, I dont know as Romeo and Mim are only very young and so very small. I handle the snakes in a diff room from the cats too. |
