Hiya and welcome.

It would be best for you to get them both probed, just to be 100% (or as near as!) sure. There have been so many posts about unwanted/unknown about till too late gravidness, and the dangers that can come with it.

:D

ive had pablo for about 9 months and rod for three days they are both about 3. we just got the viv yesterday and are going to get everything for it on sunday as we only had a two foot viv for pablo before we got rod so we were under prepared. we kep the other viv and are hoping to get a female to breed them as pablo and rod are both males we suspect.

Hi Gary, it is really good that you have joined us! This is a great forum with lots of experienced owners happy to give their advice and support. You also get lots of fun and friendship .

How long have you had Pablo and Rod? I must say they are gorgeous snakes, especially Rod (but then I am slightly biased where ghosts are concerned ). He is stunning and I cant get over how big he is....how old is he and what is the age difference between him and Pablo?

I must admit to always being a bit worried when I see corns housed together. I am not sure if you are aware of the dangers involved in doing this, even when they have been living together for years....but it may be worthwhile reading this thread - http://www.thecornsnake.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1070. I know it is very long and it shows how emotional the topic is....but at the end of the day what is important is that you are doing what you think is best for your snakes, and that is all we care about.

I am not sure if you have found this, but there is a large amount of conflicting information out there about corn keeping – on the internet, in books, etc. Even on here you will find that people have different opinions.....but at least you have a place to ask what you need to know and get the answers from experienced owners. Then you can decide what to do with what you are told.

Unfortunately a lot of us have found that many pet shops cannot be trusted with what they are telling you . I know that I double check anything I am told on here. On this forum no question is regarded as a silly question....it is much better asked and answered, you will probably find others who want the info too! First place to look is in the top right hand corner of the screen where there is a search button....type in what you are worried about and see if you can find an answer. I know you can get swamped with different topics including what you are searching for, so it is a bit daunting but worth a look. If you cant find the answer you are looking for then dont hesitate to ask!

I am not sure if you do this with Rod and Pablo, but I keep my own 'Snake Diaries'....noting things like weight, length, feeding dates and what you feed, shedding dates, health problems, when you do full viv cleans. I know it seems a bit over the top but it is actually really helpful keeping track of your snake's health - I even note when Kellog and Silvesta poo !!

Well done for complying with the unwritten forum rule - pics as soon as possible - without even knowing about it ! As I have already said, they are both lovely snakes.

A couple of pointers regarding the viv, I know you have only just moved them in to it and probably have more plans for it but....it is difficult to see if the bulb in there has a guard on it. If not then it is important to have one, corns dont feel heat like we do and could easily burn themselves if they decided to go climbing, they could also crush the bulb. How are you heating the viv and monitoring that heat? I couldnt work out whether those were dial thermometers on the back wall. The dial thermometers are useless and knowing the exact temp at substrate level is vital. That is best achieved using a digital thermometer. The only other thing is that they would probably appreciate some more greenery at ground level to fill out the viv a bit as it looks a bit open. I do love the skulls, nice touch !

Sorry if I have come over as a bit critical, it is the last thing I mean to be....but as I mentioned above what we care most about is your corns and will give you as much help and advice as we can.

I look forward to getting to know you and your corns , better.

xxx
