hi

i want to keep my hatchling's shed skin, just the first complete shed, so i have always got it to remind me of how little he is, but, as it's skin, i expect it to become brittle and break up and crumble away, is there a way to preserve it please?

Laminating!

Plus, it's fun.

after i polished it up i have a clear plastic ring with Cherry's shed going all the way around the inside of the ring. It looks really pretty and really comfortable to wear.

what resin do you use? please do a rough guide for me cos i'd like to do that too

I have most of Alices sheds from when he was a baby as his previous owner saved them in a small plastic tub. I have just bought a couple of scrap books to stick Alices sheds in with rough snake lengths written in. Izzy hasn't shed with me yet but I will be ready when he does
jessejamez666 Posted - 03/06/2010 : 20:31:39
I keep a diary beside beetlejuice's viv which I mark every time he eats, sheds and goes to the toilet and every time he sheds I put the skin in the day/date he sheds so the book keeps it nice and flat.

I think i'm sad !!!!

Sammysnake Posted - 03/06/2010 : 19:39:29
Mine are hanging either side of my computer monitor. I've kept Twilight's first when he was a wee baby and keep the latest one to compare it with the newest, then chuck the older one. Saracen's done two but I only have one as the last one he scrunched into a poo covered ball - yeuch.

the best thing to preserve sheds is definetly ronseal quick drying wood stain

(sorry, i couldn't resist!)

My snake hasn't shed since I brought her home, so I can't talk from experience, but my uncle has still has the skin of a massive rattlesnake from about 20 years ago and it's been fine just hanging on a hook in the wall. Weird, I know, it's just how rednecks roll bahaha x

There fine, I kept my snakes first shed he had with me from 8 years ago until I did a clean-up of my room and accordantly chucked it :( Keeping it somewhere it's not going to get mauled will be fine like a bag or a container or something.

I have got stellas first shed with me from October and its still fine.

I just keep all of mine in a carrier bag, its cool looking back at how she has grown.
