Posted - 02/06/2010 : 21:12:19 Well, as some of you will know, it was first chance to handle little Theo tonight, and I was obviously giddy and apprehensive at the same time.
It could not have gone better!
When I got home he was out and exploring so I took the lid off his faun and put my hand inside. He came and explored straight away and within about 30 seconds he was in my hand and coiled around my fingers Twas brilliant!!
I didn't keep him out for too long, as it was his first time out of the faun.
After calming down (haha) I checked on his diary and it turns out he had his last feed 13 days ago So I thought I would give him his pinky and see whether he was truly settled. I hope you guys don't think this was too much of a bad idea??
Anyways. It went amazing!! I defrosted the pinky and brought it upstairs and put my hand in his faun to pick him out. I put the pinky in the RUB and took him to it. He struck from my hand!!! It was amazing to see!!! It was the first time I've ever seen a snake feed up close. Literally mesmerized.
So far he's kept it down and he's nicely laid out in his hot-end hide digesting his first meal in his new home
Awesome. Awesome. AWESOME!!
So happy its unreal. So happy I don't even mind that I can't touch him again for 48hours ha ha! I have plenty of pics, but I'm away this weekend, but I promise I'll have them up asap next week!

Posted - 03/06/2010 : 18:49:34 sounds like theo is settling in well if you get some tongs (can get 12inch ones off ebay) you can dangle the pinkie infront of his hide or wherever he is and feed him like that - you might get a constriction eventually |

Posted - 03/06/2010 : 04:53:37 I just love the last bit of your post - Ashley = Happy Theo = Best thing ever!
I am not surprised you are so happy, excited, overwhelmed, shocked....probably isnt a word to describe it!
I dont think many can compare their first handling and feeding session to yours....for Theo to come to your hand and coil round your fingers is just fantastic, it shows how comfortable he is feeling with you.
And then to strike from your hand , I bet you couldnt believe it!
Congratulations to you and to Theo !
