Posted - 07/05/2010 : 18:03:57 I have my house \o/ 90 minutes of standing in empty house with nowhere to sit signign papers I got the keys and it's all mine :D They're putting in a new kitchen on 7th June, it needs a bit of work, gardeb needs a lot of work. I am super pleased with it though, I always said if I got a palce of my own I want a big garden and a real fireplace and this has both :D I have some pictures :D I'll keep this thread updates as things go alone so you can all see before and after :3
So first up heres hallway and stairs from front door :) The backdoors behind stairs, and to the left of that is the living room, to the right theres a cupboard with the electricity meter and the kitchen/diningroom.
Livingroom, my brothers measureing floor for me lol So funny, she didn't think we looked alike at all so she assumed he was the babys dad xD
Kitchen/diningroom, they same room really, new kitchens going in on 7th, gonna avoid doing anything in there till after they put in the new kitchen less faffing around then.
Upstairs theres two cupboards, 2 bedrooms (with built in wardrobes) and bathroom/toilet, looks like the bathrooms been split fromt he toilet, which i dont mind too much means if i have guests over i can go for long soak in bath and leave them baby sitting and not worry about them needing to go to toilet xD Bathroom
Williams bedroom :D Quite a big room really. Deffinatly not staying purple xD
and my room \o/
And heres the view from the bedrooms :D

Posted - 05/06/2010 : 08:52:51 Oh wow, so we go till wednesday to move out of old house properly, so me and mum spent yesterday and day before moving small stuff, we've hired a van for monday in the hopes of moving all the big stuff luckily I don't have to do that bit lol My mums roped in my brother and his mate to do that I get to stay here and play on my computer and have a relax while they put in my new kitchen. Monday is going to be mad because of that, Gonna have builders in and out fitting new kitchen and my mum, brother and Mike in and out with big furniture, and I got dude coming to wipe out old tennants debt on my gas meter so I can go for a long soak in the bath without paying off someone elses debt lol B ut today and tomorrow we're focusing on moving small stuff, today I'm going into my bedroom and shoving everything in bin bags, I'm then going to bring it here sort through it slowly and anything I don't want can either go in the bin or go on ebay lol Go huge ferret cage I don;t need (or have room for anymore) to go on ebay later see if anyone wants that, if not it can go in shed for a while lol While I'm sorting out my bedroom mums gonna be sorting out hers. Then tomorrow will be the downstairs packing away kitchen stuff and dining room/study. Sorted out most of livign room yesterday, just gotta pack whats in sideboard now then its all big furniture to move in van. Snakes got moved here yesterday and are upstairs in my bedroom, Gingers not happy I didn't feed them because I didn't want to unsettle them while they were trying to digest their dinner so I'm gonna give them couple days to settle in then feed them. On the decorating front, we've put off putting up the wallpaper in the living room cause we've been busy moving stuff, thats top priority at the moment cause we're running out of time to move out lol But my bedrooms finished, we put the carpet down thursday between moving stuff its looking good, just need to get the pictures up but that can wait too. Will get pictures later of the bedroom if I got time :3 Starting to wonder if old tennants left their cats behind. First night we stayed here there was a black cat meowing at the door to get in, the next day the ginger tom cat I saw sunbathing fist day I came here in back garden tried to get in looking a lot more scruffier than he did first time I saw him, they both look like pretty old cats. Met my other next door neighbour yesterday, think it was a awkward first meeting, she was embarrised cause her dog had come through the hedge and was running around my garden and I was embarrised cause the second she stepped through the gate Skeebee was jumping up at her snapping and barking, didn't bite her, think she was just a big confused with strange dog (shes scared of big dogs) and people around but I was so worried she might have hurt the woman jumping up at her bare legs @.@ She seemed ok though, i got my dogs in the house and her dog tried to follow lol she got hold of her dog and took him back to her garden xD Well thats all I got for now, thats whats been happening with the house. Trying to get brother to pain babys room for us cause we're tired of painting LOL he said he wouldn;t cause we were using paint pads not rollers, so I went out and bought a £2 roller from wilkos haha
EDIT: Got Some pictures while I was upstairs, mums picking up aunt so I had some spare time, gave me chance to handle ginger too which I havent had time to do for last couple of weeks other than feeding and checking for water, it was nice :)
Carpet needs vacuming but I not moved that over yet haha
I also forgot the extention cable for vivs so mouses viv should be ontop of gingers but i needed to put him overthere for the sockets xD
And skeebee wanted in on pictures too

Looks like you are doing an amazing job Rachell - but you better not be overdoing it or I will have to give you THE LECTURE !!!
It is such good news about your neighbours....especially considering what your present ones are like. Hopefully you will be able to make some friends soon, which will be lovely.
Why am I not surprised about the state the house is in !! It really is appalling that they are expecting you to move into a house like that in your condition, especially as you have a time limit now you have to be out of your present house by the 9th. But....you dont know how long you might have had to wait for another house to come along. At least you have got this one and the problems are fixable....just make sure you keep the pressure on the council to speed up the work on getting everything sorted as soon as possible - keep reminding them about you being about to have a baby and the need for a house that would pass health and safety standards!!
I really like the wallpaper you have chosen for the lounge and it does match the painted walls and carpet. The garden looks a nice size and will be lovely for the dogs and baby once your brother has taken it in hand .
I am serious though Rachell - you need to take it easy....that baby needs to stay in you as long as possible and doing too much wont make that happen. I know your mum and your brother are helping, but use as many people to do other things instead of you as you can. REST, REST and more REST!!!!

Posted - 26/05/2010 : 22:15:09 Neighbours are really nice, they all came and knocked on door and introduced themselves while we were there decorating over the weekend, said if I needed anything to just shout, one said she was surprised they had given me the place being so heavily pregnant cause it needed so much work lol It's a really nice area just shame about the problems we keep running into while doing it up. Cant wait to have it all finished though :3 Going to call them up again tomorrow ask whats going on about the broken floor boards and ground floor sockets not working and tell them about my blocked sink in bathroom o: |

Posted - 26/05/2010 : 16:37:28 We're finding more and more problems as we go alone, concidering they said the house was in good condition, alot of their 'Moving in Letting Standards' have been ignored. According the the leaflet the place was supposed ot be spotless, I think I've done more cleaning that they did since I moved in lol (Don't worry I'm taking it easy!!!). Gas man came today to light the boiler for me so we would have hot water and there was a gas leak, the pipe a cooker would connect to just came off in his hands so he capped that outside to stop the leak, theres a rardiator coming off the wall in the babies room as well as a broken floor board in my room and babies room, the sink in the bathroom is blocked, half the windows are hell to open, window in back of kitchen won't budge (They said all the windows open easily and are in good condition) Theres a roof tile balancing on the gutter in the back of the house and all the ground floor sockets don't work, which they should have known before moving me in because they were supposed to have checked the electric. According to their letting standards they should have cut the over grown grass in the back garden and trimmed the hedges before letting me move in lol Got eviction notice for this place, gotta be out of here by the 9th June so we're trying to get as much of the decorating done between my mum working so we can start moving everything in Hoping to be at a point where we're moved in by the 2nd of june and then it'll just be emptying whatevers left of this house. The living rooms almost finished aunt came around and helped up finish the painting there on Sunday, looks rather good, they put in my new carpet on Tuesday and my mums dog was nice enough to puke on it soon as it was down, but thats been cleaned now. Just needs the back wall papering now, we gonna do that once my brother puts up my diningroom table. When they finally get round to sending someone out about the ground floor sockets i'll be able to get brother in to sort out my lawn for me, luckily he has just got himself a new lawn mower and strimmer and is dying to use it xD My bedroom carpet was delivered on Tuesday as well as the babies bedroom lino (so cool!) I got black carpet for my room \o/ brothers jealous his girlfriend wouldn't let him get black for their house haha. Just gotta finish painting walls in there tomorrow and wait for them to come fix the broken floor board so we can put the carpet down and start moving stuff into there (like the snakes). It's coming along slowly, can't wait to get the main decorating done so that i can get everything in there. Anyway I have some pictures! :D
Living room: Wallpaper thats gonna go on the wall is sat ontop of the fireplace, and prieview of my new brown skirting :)
I wasn't sure about the cream colour when I bought it, mum reasured me that it would look good once it was up and it was picked to go with the wallpaper, it was just sheer luck it also matched the patterning of the carpet and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out :3
Carpet (and skeebees back lol)
Bedroom: The walls they have quickly run over with a cream colour over what like purple luckily I'm doing the room cream and black so It's worked out rather well, seems they almost the same colour cause when I was painting around the skirting this mornign with my cream ready for painting the walls it was hard to tell where I just painted so might save us a coat of paint :) Anyway here is it pre pain with skirting done:
Wardrobe
Painted my window shelf black xD
And a couple of befores of the garden before my brother comes and hacks at it lol

Posted - 11/05/2010 : 04:54:34 Only just caught up with this thread Rachell as not been around as much as I would like. The house looks great and I can just imagine how you feel to finally have a place that you can call your own!!
"Oh wow, just woken up from my nap feel like bus has hit me and all i did was stand around for 90 mins signing papers lol."....slight hint - standing around for that long is a definite no-no when you are as far gone in your pregnancy as you are!! Especially with your blood pressure. I cant stress enough how important it is that you take things easy and get everyone else to do the work. I know you want to 'nest' as you finally have your own home, but for now you just need to let others do the bare necessities while you supervise - it is not worth risking you or William's health!! How are you doing at the moment? Is your blood pressure stable? How does the midwife feel about all this? (hopefully she is lecturing you like I am!!). Havent been on Facebook either, so am behind on the news.
What happened about the one dog rule?
It is great that you are going to get the chance to go through the furniture you have at the moment and take what you want....means no added costs just when you dont need them. The house itself is just perfect and I love the view from the bedroom.
How you feeling about your mum moving in with your nan? You are taking a lot of big steps in a very short time....moving house, living without your mum and having a baby - I AM SO PROUD OF YOU TWI, I know what a big thing this is for you. But please dont be afraid to ask for help.

Posted - 08/05/2010 : 09:19:25 Wow what a lovely space you've got there - lovely big and light rooms and a great bathroom. The walls and floors look like they're in great condition and there's no rubbish to get rid of so it shouldn't take much at all to make it look beautiful. When we bought our house it was really grubby and the only furniture we had was a bed (which we saved up and bought), two borrowed deckchairs and a borrowed electric fire. It was January and was freezing with no heating. We would eat our tea in the deckchairs and then go straight to bed, taking the fire with us to try to keep warm. Glad you've got a table - hopefully some other bits and pieces to go with it too ha ha. |
