Hi
Just to say 'thanks' to all of you who gave advice on snake poo. I took note from those who told me they quite often 'go' a couple of days after feeding and being out. I took the precaution of covering myself with an old towel, just in case.
Sidney performed perfectly, bless him. Slithered about a bit then 'went' like a good boy! All normal, very much like bearded dragon/bird poo, exactly as many of you said. Nice clean vent when he'd been, all very reassuring.
I put him back in his viv so I could clean up the mess. He stopped for a long drink of water before he slid off my hand and into his viv. Don't they look sweet when they're drinking awwww.
As recommended by Kellog I'm keeping a diary of all Hissin-Sid's activities. A good idea.

The learning of the signs of an imminent deposit is a very good idea. One day Alice had decided to go exploring inside my dressing gown while I was on the laptop. Then i realised how still he was and could feel his muscles moving on my back. Whipped him out as quickly as I could without freaking him out, frantic calls for a towel to be laid on the sofa, and got him down just in time for a monster, projectile deposit. Close one lol

So glad our advice helped and you werent 'christened ' by Sid! Well done for using the towel, and you will soon learn his pattern and the signs that he makes before he is going to poo - hopefully you will be able to become quick enough that you can 'catch' what he offers with kitchen roll....a lot easier to throw away and you can continue to handle rather than have to immediately return Sid to the viv, also means you dont have to keep washing towels!

It is amazing that he is so comfortable with you already that he feels he can put himself in the vulnerable position of drinking while you are still holding him - and it is really sweet!

Glad you are keeping the diary. I know it seems a bit OTT, but I have found it a good way to see patterns and am sure that it would help if there was a health problem (also I am very slightly paranoid about my snakes so want to make sure I document everything )

xxx
