Right here I go-

I find it really annoying when a thread gets locked during a civil discussion with someone over a difference of opinions.

I was under the impression that this forum was here so people can share their experiences and opinions on topics, but more and more I see there is "muzzling" taking place.

By all means step in if a topic is turning into an absolute flaming match, swearing, insulting etc, but for a simple debate that is taking place surely there is a better way of dealing with it than closing the thread and never speaking of it again.

Right, bash away.

Thanks guys, I think I know to what you are referring, at the time I wrote this I was pretty miffed about the whole issue, so thanks for being reasonable!

As above, there's a difference between a debate and a personal attack and sometimes we have to step in the try and keep things on track.

If you have any particular examples please contact a mod or member of the Admin team:

http://www.thereptilian.co.uk/forum/showteam.php

and we may be able to help further.

We don't have an issue over a opinion swap, or a small debate.
But when people start bitching, 'effing and whining about 1 or 2 members THEN it's past the point.

We've had some brilliant debates on here in the past, unfortunately we still have the odd idiots (you know who you are) that decide to take the chance of debate to publicly slate people, that WILL NOT be tolerated.

The mods on here do their job as they see fit, and I cannot think of anytime when I'd disagree with a mods choice on how to do things.

Debate and opinion swap can be healthy, and in some cases fun and educational for people as well but directed abuse is not.

If people want to direct abuse, then I'm sure they're capable of having a couple cans of stella and taking it out on a bus shelter.

Likewise if anyone wants to contact a mod about any specific issues, then feel free, but if I catch anyone slating others, I wont tolerate it.
