Posted - 07/02/2010 : 01:16:41 hi just wanted to know if i was to make some hides out of clay would it be ok to used a spray paint on them? i have some dark green fleck type paint witch would look very nice.
i would let it dry out for say a week and bake it in the oven as well..

Posted - 08/02/2010 : 22:23:13 i'v got some salt dough hides in the oven, 3 coats of primer,3 paint then clear varnish. is this inside and out or just the outside? |

Posted - 07/02/2010 : 22:17:49 Most paints are water based now anyway, and non toxic, so as long as its dried properly then it will be fine. |

Posted - 07/02/2010 : 04:55:36 None toxic paint should be ok anything with celulose in it or oil based paint should be given time to cure and air and then sealed. Most modern paints are very safe. But follow the instructions for any curing times. I made a couple of salt/dough hides a while back and had no problems with the spray paint I used.... |

Posted - 07/02/2010 : 04:40:47 If they were sealed with a good waterproof varnish afterwards and left for an appropriate amount of time to dry and for fumes to disappate then it should be ok. |
