I LOVE my husband. it's my birthday and I got up this morning to find a new faun set up in my living room! I've now got a lovely amel stripe. When we were in the pet shop we were also given a snow stripe on the proviso we don't breed from him, as he only has one eye! My hubbie is a softie so immediatly bought an additional set up for him and is insisting that this one is HIS snake. Bless him he's spent the whole evening gazing protectivly at his new snake. We really need to sell our house soon so we can set up our rep room...

What a STAR of a husband. My pressies are all under the tree and I checked - none of them are snake-shaped (boo hiss).

It has a TINY little pink spot (don't think you could call it an eye) and there is quite a large dip.

Out of interest, has it got a dip where the eye should be or is it flat?

I appologise for the rubbish, blurry photos. I will get more ASAP

Shylah (as much of him as we ever see)

Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson (I had NOTHING to do with the name!)

Not sure on her name yet, either Shima (mother), Selu (corn), Tehya (precious) or Olathe (beautiful).

How many other people did the shop owner try to give Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson to before someone had him? We love him already. I've been sat working near the snakes all day hoping to get a better picture of his eye, but every time he appears I reach for the camera and he disappears! (Santa can I have a better camera please?)

I have a one eyed gerbil called Pirate Jim, it's a girl, but the name suits ;)
Welsome to the pirate pet family!

Congrats to hubby for his new snake.

Is he gonna give it a suitable Pirate name??

If anyone remembers the Goonies (although it'll probably be on telly over the chrimbo period) something like 'Willie'.

I'm interested though- why would having one eye mean your'e not allowed to breed from him? Was he born without- could it be hereditary?

Yes, it could be passed down. Its the same reason that you wouldnt breed a snake with a kinked spine.

Cool thanks Matty- just wondered incase it had been injured or something, maybe all the girl snakes would think him a sleaze for permanently winking at them all.

Got a few blurry photos but not good enough to post, he was having a bad shed that was being picked off in the shop so the only handling we did was to run him through a damp towel to make sure it was off before he went into his new home (it was on his bad side so think it might be a regular thing). So seven days at least before the next photo op...
