Just bought theses cable securing pads for my glass viv, I know it's best not to use sticky tape so i gave these a try. I have tested them so i know they don't come off easily. Hope this is of help to someone.

You can get them from any DIY or hardware shop. Its just a small nail with a peice of plastic that pins the cable to the surface. They come in differant sizes too.

Ah - hahahaa! Yes, of course I know what these are, hadn't realized that's what you were talking about! Thanks, Matty. So they would be good for wooden vivs. What about securing in a glass viv, then? The only thing I can think of is a suction cap with a loop for the cable to go through. Wondering if such things exist at all to be sold separately, and if so, where.

A lot of plants I get for the the vivs etc have suction cups on that have holes in them that attach the plants , have to be thinnish wire though . But then then you could use those with a garden tie , the plant ties somehow through the loop first .

I'll go try see what I can do .

Okay , this works perfectly .

Most fake plants have a suction cup on them somewhere , more than one on the larger versions . I just passed a garden tie through the hole , you can use string whatever then stick this to the glass , just tried it , like I say , works perfectly :)

Edit: I was so impressed with the finished product , I made a "How to" :)

Superglue the cable to the glass before snakey moves in? Another alternative would be to remove the sticky pad from the back of Codge's cable securing pads and superglue them on instead .

you can either use the sticky pad on the back or use a screw to fix it. The sticky pads on the back don't come loose without a lot of force i tried to pull one off some glass. Cable nails are no good in glass vivs.

Yes, which is why I always say to use a cable nail.

Thanks, Matty. Is there anywhere I can see what you're talking about? I'd rather you showed me a picture if you can rather than me google it and possibly come up with the wrong thing. I'd be interested both in what it looks like on its own, and when in setup, but would appreciate anything you can post, and thanks.

Also, not for securing cables, in Blaze's viv, i use cable ties, then i just place the two probes in one place.

Are those cable nails those white things and nail over the cable?

So what happens if it does come loose? Wouldn't that be potentially dangerous to the snake?

How do they actually work, please? From the picture I am guessing it is not suction and so I am wondering, if not a sticky and not suction, what else could it be??

(Is there something obvious I'm missing? )
