Posted - 31/08/2009 : 21:11:21 So i spent my weekend working Traveled down south to penrif arrived there about 3 in the morning so travveled around the area till 9 and went to meet up with the guy i was to work for got the car sorted and went to the truck stop that was the main base of operations and got the car through its safety checks and whatnot next day we headed off to the base to await our starting time which was about 9 45 as we were car 108. my job with my mate was being the chase car (management car)he drove and i navigated and basically all we did was wait at the end of every stage, fix anythingthat went wrong or any accident damage if it was possible and then we chased the rally car to the next stage and did it all again
we came in #15 in our class which was brill as that was the first time the team did that particular event and the cars first ever event
the team we were with ran a citreon saxo which the guy has put alot of time and money into
we never saw any of the rally sadly as we had to work outside the stages
anyway it was an amazing exerience and a great thing to add to my cv, this was like a test run for me and my mate and the guy has decided we are both now a part of the team
am well chuffed
Did anyone go to this event? |

lol the scoob's nothing special just has good tyres, sump guard, spots and strut brace on, it's got to stay civilised for me to drive everyday but it's still quite competitive. it's permanent 4 wheel drive which i'm not overly keen on.......... i prefer rear wheel drive mk2 escorts for a bit of sideways fun! |

Posted - 31/08/2009 : 22:14:27 i've not actually been out on a Nat B this year......... i wondering if it was worth getting a 2009 licence! last event i did was Beverley MC's The Beaver rally (NO smutty comments people, please!! )
i've just been out on club level road events this year so far, only problem is the Impreza i compete in is also my everyday car so i'm slightly worried if i break it (but OH is an ex ProDrive mechanic so it's not the end of the world lol) |

Posted - 31/08/2009 : 21:55:15 awesome. im actually a noob, first time ive done chase but ive been doing mechanics in college for 3 years and want something other than garage work
it was really an honour for someone with little experience to be given the responsibility of chase car and now im part of the small team so should be getting a lot of experience through a few weve got lined up
also gp have u got any planed this year? im off to mull in october and i think weve got a few end of year/beginning of next
