im making a 4ft vivarium for my corn but im going to use 1in ply wood instead of melamine board because my flat is small im going to need it to take the weight of my turntables and mixer on top

my question is what should i coat the inside of the viv with or would bare wood be ok?

i have some black exterior masonry paint its water proof and smooth finish would this be ok to use as long as it properly dried?

Yatch varnish seems the most commonly used.
