Posted - 10/07/2009 : 16:28:20 Html will make this place an easy target for all sorts of very nasty stuff - porn, viruses, malware, spyware, the list goes on! It's just not worth it to post a video or have a flashy signature, the information is what people come on for I believe.
I won't be likely to do it in the future really either, there are too many threats to forums like this one as it is. Sorry Jono! BB code is as much as people need. What would you like to use HTML for? |

Posted - 10/07/2009 : 12:36:54 i would rather this site to be free from links and virus that link you to site that tells you that you need to enlarge something using nasal spray (yes i got a spam txt saying using nasal spray can help). |

Posted - 10/07/2009 : 10:45:36 Wouldn't that allow people to use html coding like redirects? So if you click a link it could redirect you to any website the designer wished.
BB(forum)CODE is far more secure. |

Unfortunatley having the coding turned on can leave the forum open to greater risks. We still have to filter out dodgy members and links in profiles sometimes but they are easy to find due to how they are named.
With HTML it's possible to make links seem like they are going to somewhere harmless, but end up going somewhere dodgy and you don't realise until it's to late.
Plus with HTML turned on, we'd then have the ability to embed things as well, which wouldn't do to well with the server load.
He may still do it at some point, but so far as I know he's trying to sort out other things first as well. |
