Just got a massive bite - from Twid, who has never, in his 4 years, even threaten to bite. What's even worse, he than fell on the floor, so, now I'm worried about him.
He was awake when I went passed his Viv, so I thought I'd see if he wanted to come out. Opened the Viv, put my arm in front of him to climb on, as he often does, then the phone rung downstairs. I think I jumped, and he just launched himself off the Trixie table, flew at me and bit me so hard, he was hanging off my wrist.
I jerked my arm in surprise and he fell on the carpet... From about 4,5 feet. I picked him up immediately ( stupidly didn't think to check him over ) and put him back in his Viv. He shot off into his hot hide.
I really hope he's ok, he's normally the most chilled snake, not likely to be fazed by people moving suddenly. Worried about his mouth and that he could have hurt himself falling from that hight |

Posted - 24/10/2015 : 14:30:27 He's really grumpy though, ok when out of Viv, but whenever I go in to change water, he's s-ing himself up. I think he's trying to hibernate, and can't , as his cool side temps are 20-21 C. |

Posted - 21/10/2015 : 13:55:30 He has pooped ok, and I've taken him out and checked him all over - seems to be ok, thank goodness.
Weighed him, too and he's a little porker - 792 g! He still doesn't look massive, just husky. Must post some pics of him....hmm. |

Posted - 17/10/2015 : 19:30:24 Well, about an hour ago, he was partly in his hot hide, and partly under his piece of cork bark, so I lifted the bark carefully and just looked him over. He was all sweetness again, making big innocent eyes at me... seems ok, but I will keep an eye on him. He was fed 4 days ago and the mouse was very small, so I hope it would have been digested :-(
I can't believe how far he'd actually launched himself to bite, he did a very good impression of a flying snake. Just a shame I didn't manage to put my other hand under him, whilst he was still hanging on my wrist - this was by his teeth only, he never tried to wrap me !
I couldn't see any tell tale lumps on him anywhere, hope he is ok ( and his mouth ). He left quite a wide bite mark, he must have really flattened his head... |
