Posted - 28/06/2014 : 22:44:20 Flicka is now four years old after having her from a month old from a rescue center. To start with she was strictly an after dark feeder, wouldn't even have a look if you were in the room. Slowly she got a taste for it and would strike coil and eat any small mice 99% of the time.
Now? She'll eat anytime, anywhere and anything! She'll eat mice or rats (or fingers!), hot or cold, board daylight or pitch black dark. Even if her temps aren't quite right or she's in the middle of a shed, she'll eat.
Anyone else got one of these feeding machines, or am I just extremely lucky she's willing to put on a show no matter the circumstances? |

Posted - 03/07/2014 : 01:21:02 I've not had Stanlee that long but she ( seems weird saying "she")only refused a feed a few days before she laid her eggs. I've seen her strike and just take it gently.
Mort13, when my daughter was little she had an imaginary friend called " Sabi" lol |

Posted - 02/07/2014 : 21:55:51 Its amazing to see all the differences in feeding. Definitely glad I have a happy eater with my rainbow boa and koda (who is sadly gone now) both being ridiculously picky eaters. |

Posted - 01/07/2014 : 23:38:47 All my corns strike feed now. Falcor and Ofelia have always been strong strike feeders. Loki took a couple of years till he struck for the first time but now does every time. Alaska was a little shy and didn't feed for the first 5 weeks after I got her, she now is one of the most eager. Flame is the only one that refuses when in blue. Sabai has always struck for his food too. Funnily enough, the strongest feeder of all my corns (the one I need to watch my hands with) is Kalypso, the one I was given as a non feeder!! She's also the largest of my CB11's. I've been lucky really as up to now I've never had feeding issues at breeding time either, they are probably lulling me into a false sense of security haha.

Posted - 30/06/2014 : 22:43:51 Kali is a crazy eater. Mice...tongs...water bowl...hides...fingers...she'll strike at ANYTHING if there's a remote chance it could possibly be food! Not just a strike, a top speed makes-your-heart-race strike with a vicious, lighting fast coil! She regularly breaks mouse spines (yeeeurgh hearing the crunches) and has popped a couple of adults mice even!
Apollo is a very good eater and strikes and coils lightning fast but he has never struck anything but mice. Even if he's in the feeding tub looking for mice, he wouldn't strike a hand or anything else. My lovely little chap
Andromeda is getting more and more like Kali as she grows up and has struck me a couple of times thinking I was edible, I don't think she's refused a single meal since I got her...
The other three are getting more and more confident too! Only Aphrodite has never struck a mouse, she has a good sniff and then maybe decides to eat it. My only fussy snake |

Posted - 30/06/2014 : 07:51:26 Depends what I'm offering and to who. Rosie, Red and Diego will strike anything (except when Diego is on hunger strike). Luna will strike rats but not mice or chicks, then she'll sniff for ages before deigning to take them. Sometimes I get bored and just drop them in her cave. Checkers and Liana have to be left with their pinkies, but if they're anole scented they wills trike quite fiercely. |

Posted - 29/06/2014 : 11:33:28 Got to admit Linguene feeds every time. Most times striking though last time he didn't, but he is in blue at the moment so cant blame him for that. |

Posted - 29/06/2014 : 08:30:38 It's wonderful hearing how Flicka has changed from the nervous feeder to a feeding machine. Shows how well you've done with her .
I've got one fussy eater but the others are all ok eaters. Unfortunately most of the time they're lazy and will sniff the offered mouse up and down, examine it from all angles, before gently taking it. And then there's those times when they decide to make me jump by immediately striking and coiling as soon as I offer it .
Because I've been through dealing with a snake that is a difficult feeder I'm always just happy when they eat but it would be nice if they were a bit more enthusiastic about it .
