I've noticed all my 3 snakes seem to be constantly hungry last couple of weeks. Even Bazilishka, who simply NEVER roams her viv in search of food, has been out and about, only just 5 days after feeding. Any movement near the viv, and she's in hunting mode. And they all strike and constrict like there's no tomorrow!
I wonder whether it's because it's the time of the year, when there's lots of young animals around, that make an easy prey, and in nature, they'd be stuffing themselves as much as possible, whilst they can.... or it's the warm weather?
Anyones else's snakes in supper hunting mode? |

I have noticed his too, my not so little one anymore is always out climbing over his decor, if I move close to the viv he comes to the glass and stares at me as if to say "open the door and let me out"
He has been striking quite furiously the last few feeds also which was a bit scary the first time, but now its a pleasure to watch as its more natural to me for him to become the hunter he was born to be.
He's grown to 151g and is about 3ft long now and its all thanks to the advice I received on here in the beginning.

Mine are all ravenous at the moment, and a few have taken a pop at me through their rubs. Not sure if it's the time of year or the unsettled weather we've had over the past few weeks. All have settled down not though aside from Falcor who permanently has ants in his pants. Luckily none of mine have ever gone off their food though! |

So, late last night, Baz and Twid looked like they were doing synchronized gliding in their vivs. As soon as I opened Twid's viv to change his water, he was out, and desperately trying to get into Baz's viv through the glass... and she crawled out to glass to meet him! They were pressing their faces together through the glass, and I so very nearly let them in together ( they looked so desperate ) - but didn't - I strongly suspect I was wrong, and they are still very much in breeding mode...
Tonight, I offered Baz a mouse ( in her viv, unusually, as she was sat on top of her hide ) - and she went for the mouse so much, she trashed half of the viv in the process! So still eating....
SBB, I'm glad Storm has eaten, and on your hand, too :-) I never dare to feed mine like that, I reckon they'd try to eat my hand for afters....
Lol at yalovit, just had a mental picture of one corn snake, and one cow in tweezers...
Kellog, you're right, definitely a strange year, I really thought mine have finished with the breeding season mylarkie.
Moppet, I do think the "girls" are definitely more ravenous now, though Andromeda might have been a bit over ambitious :-)
SilverWings, that's exactly what Seb does, he doesn't seem to need almost any time at all to digest.

I can't believe that Kellog and Casper are still out and about, patrolling their vivs and fussing with their food. I have managed to get Kellog to eat 3 smalls since the end of February but I'll be happier when he's back to eating normally. Even Silvi is lying out, watching the world go by. At least she's eating though.
I've never known a year quite like it.

Was a bit shocked, Storm ate!!! he was wrapped around my fingers, i showed him the pinkie, told him he had to eat it later, was about to put in his faun, he leaned over, started chomping on it!! not the first time he has ate from being on my hand, but he has not ate for ages, was well pleased!!

Mine are ravenous this time of year. Kali because she laid lots of eggs, all the young females are trying desperately to reach breeding size as quickly as possible I think. I got bitten by Andromeda the other day (pretty sure it was just an intense feeding response) and she's not normally one to do that. She let go as soon as she realised I was A. Not a mouse and B. too big to eat My males aren't as bothered as the females are but then they're normally more laid back anyway, they're still both striking and constricting though. |

Not really, Diego is still glass dancing from breeding season but has just started eating again, he's striking and constricting quite ferociously, but dancing the next day. |
